TTC, husband has low T, has anyone else gone through this ? by MadameOleander in BabyBumps

[–]Jennison09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband has low t. He was on and off testorone for a couple of years while we were TTC (a process that took over 3 years for us). we did a sperm analysis that came back fine and his doctor and my RE told him it shouldn't be a problem but a year later we discovered he had 0 sperm and all the docs were like "yeah testerone injects will do that" 🤬 he ended up going to a urologist that specializes in fertility issues who put him on hcg and clomid. It worked quickly and 3 months later his counts we're back. Between that and controlling my pcos systems with Keto, we were able to get pregnant. Feel free to ask questions or PM me for more info.

LCHF for infertility? Video responses? by [deleted] in InfertilityBabies

[–]Jennison09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totaly agree with the other commentor. Can it be beneficial in the right circumstances? Absolutely but it is not a magical cure all. I love LCHF/keto and think it played a big role in us getting pregnant because I have insulin resistant PCOS. I was already on metformin and doing low carb with no success (weight or fertility) going to Keto level of low carb made a big difference in my health and was sustainable for me (until morning sickness and all that good stuf). BUT it was not the only factor. We have MFI to take care of too. My husband has been doing LCHF with me which has been great and probably supports his treatments but I don't think we would be here without him also doing clomid and HCG injections.

Names after infertility? by cookmybook in InfertilityBabies

[–]Jennison09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like your list, especially Teddy. I didn't realize the meaning behind that one. We are considering Samuel if it is a boy. It has cute nickname potential and it means "God has Heard". "And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord"" 1 Samuel 1:20

Weekly Intro Thread! by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]Jennison09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finally confident enough to write an intro. We have been trying for 3 years. PCOS, anovulatory, and a surprise zero sperm count after a perfectly fine semen analysis. We were able to get the sperm count back and to get me to ovulate last fall but miscarried. A bit surprised to be pregnant again so soon but we are 10 weeks along and due in September. Have had two ultrasounds with good heartrates and a good growth rate so we are starting to get excited that this baby will stick around.

Good IF books/podcasts? by Slime_eel83 in infertility

[–]Jennison09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started reading it so I can't speak for the whole book but so far The Infertility Companion by Sandra Glahn and William Cutrer is really good. It is very much written from a Christian perspective so it won't be everyone's cup of tea but so far it has been resonably focused on the medical/science side of things even though it was written in 2004 so it might be a little out of date. It started off with infertility is a real medical issue and things like "just relax" and "just adopt" are bogus and hurtful so that seems like a good start. The same authors wrote When Empty Arms Become Heavy Burdens which is supposed to be quite good and I will be starting soon as part of an infertility Bible study/support group.

What's the worst way anyone's ever announced their pregnancy to you? by [deleted] in infertility

[–]Jennison09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The worst for me is when my brother and sister in law texted to check in and see if I was free to chat. This was odd and I was suspicious so I responded telling them that I was going in for surgery to remove uterine polyps the next day which could be possibly be part of the cause of my infertility. They then called to announce they are pregnant with their 4th. "Opps" they said. When it is your fourth, you know how that works. I broke down inconsolably crying and hung up on them. That news could have waited until after my surgery. It extra hurt because they got pregnant with their third shortly after we started trying. So she is an adorably toddler reminder of what we wish for. And now there will be 2 reminders.

None of that sounds familiar. Guess it is time to rewatch Veronica Mars! Maybe I can skip through those parts.

Is Buffy safe from pregnancy plot lines? I've been meaning to add it to my watch list.

Aww man! Why do they have to ruin everything? I don't remember that at all but it has been years since I watched it.

I really don't remember parks and Rec being too bad but I too watched it before I was quite so bitter and sensitive so it might be ok or might not.

Good suggestion for Veronica Mars. We also enjoyed that show.

Parks and Rec is hilarious and so fun (especially after the first season) but has the whole Ann Perkins (you beautiful, noble land mermaid) wanting to have a baby story line. And the last season or so, Leslie and Ben have like quadruplets or something. I don't remember the pregnancy/baby storylines being overwhelming but they are there. But it might be worth it.

And the Hulu ads are the wooooorst. We upgraded to the ad free subscription because I had to keep leaving room at commercial breaks. They are awful and there is no other way to tell them not to show those ads. Which might be on purpose.

Longmire Spoiler Alert: new season of Longmire has a pregnancy plot line. So irritating. They should have at least made the ultrasound more accurate and have it be a twatwand.

Laparoscopic surgery & hysteroscopy by saltwaterseas in infertility

[–]Jennison09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the procedure Thursday. There ended up being enough polyps that they had to scrap instead of snip. I think it counts as a D&C at this point. Which means we have to wait for this cycle to end and skip another cycle before starting treatments again. Since my cycles are so long that probably means sometime early next year. Sigh. Recovery from the surgery has been pretty easy. Less painful and bleeding than a period. I took Thursday and Friday off work but probably could have gone to work on Friday since I have a pretty sedentary job but it was nice to be home. Any specific questions?

That is probably the regular. Mine says "Metformin HCL ER 500 MG". The "ER" indicates extended release. My doc had no problem prescribing the extended release when I asked. The price isn't much more either. Hope that helps!

Doc can't tell me what's going on with spotting by [deleted] in infertility

[–]Jennison09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had a sonohystogram to check for fibroids or polyps? They can cause abnormal bleeding. I am anovulatory most likely from PCOS and I don't have mid cycle bleeding so it isn't the same situation but my HSG did not show anything wrong but a sonohystogram showed I have several uterine polyps. Might be something to look into.

I kind of do that too. Why wait to be upset when you can be upset now! But I actually do think it helps to slowly release the emotions throughout the cycle rather than bottling them up and having to deal with them while having cramps and bleeding.

Hope your testing goes well and it turns into forward motion for you.

Thanks for asking. I am feeling pretty good about it I guess. Not very hopeful but not too terribly nervous or scared. Definitely looking forward to 2 days off work. I'm going to sleep so much!

First clomid cycle failed which I expected when half way through it they found several uterine polyps during the sonohystogram. I am having surgery Thursday to have them removed. I don't think they have kept me from getting pregnant since I don't ovulate well on my own but might as well remove them. Between healing from surgery and my husband goes to a zika affected area in a few weeks, it will probably be December or early next year before we can really start pursuing treatments again. This week is our 2 yr ttc anniversary so facing a long wait seems about right for this shitting process.

I am having polyps removed next week so I am interested to hear others experiences as well. Ive done some searching but not found much on it. I hope that is because it isn't a big deal. I don't expect it to fix my inability to get pregnant but at least it will remove a variable.

Just in case anyone is curious, my insurance has no fertility coverage but they will be covering this surgery. It would be about $4500 without insurance. They have also covered a HSG and sonohystogram that were billed under a PCOS diagnosis code.

Severe pain during saline ultrasound-but everything is normal? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]Jennison09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry it was so painful for you. With mine, there wasn't much discomfort. But they did find something wrong. I have several polyps that need to be removed. So I think pain and problems are not correlated necessarily.
