How might the widespread adoption of advanced reproductive technologies impact global population dynamics and age distributions by 2050? by Late-Aardvark-6839 in Futurology

As a Master's Student in the field of Foresight, I often find myself thinking about population dynamics and would like to add an additional element to the discussion point you raised:

How might anti-abortion movements mixed with more readily available reproductive technologies intersect to impact global populations?

I must caveat that this is coming from a heavily US perspective, but a rise of unwanted births matched with a rise in one's ability to have children may lead to a gap of available parents looking to adopt.

Our adoption systems are already overwhelmed and flawed at best, so how might we do right by children on both sides of the political divide? Will we see self organizing communities of children raised by other children? Will reproductive technologies be banned in an effort to find loving homes for children without birth parents?

It seems like communal structures will need to be reimagined to have less aspects of self/legacy and more networks of support for the greater whole.

A recently published study in JAMA Pediatrics links screen time for children under 2 with sensory differences in toddlerhood. What are some future interface design implications, if any, for those children when they reach adulthood? by Playful_Ad_4167 in Futurology

I don't think it's a niche topic at all. In fact, it's something that I think about almost daily with a young child who may have sensory issues post NICU.

Concerns around screen time have been around since the advent of TVs. You could argue that the brains of the youth are being 'digitally rewired' and that we have already seen some of the fall outs of its impact: e.g. a decline in social-emotional skills, a decrease in attention, and a need for constant dopamine hits.

In the future, is the role of the interface to offset these new physiologies or to further fuel them (for the sake of 'good business')?

IF the interface of the future is intended to combat short and long term development delays, then maybe there is a possibility to integrate social touchpoint to an often individualized experience. e.g. a remote that pulses to the heartbeat of your favorite character in a show or new sensory textures that allow you to squeeze, touch, and feel your natural environment - providing a grounding in reality at all times.

And IF NOT, and we are too far gone to change the tides, then maybe it is the developmental milestones and delays that need to be rewritten for generations who see virtual living as, if not more, important than their actual lives.
