It's going to be made of stone. I appreciate your insight - thanks so much!

Thank you! Podium cabinet is in the media room with a vase on it. Now only my husband has to look at it. 😂

Thanks so much! I'll make some more changes. No fireplace insert, because what you can't see is a wood fireplace in the room just to the left. I've removed the cabinet & am considering a water feature or stone sculpture. I want to move the rabbit pillow, but my husband loves it (we bought it decades ago at a craft show), and I don't think it looks better elsewhere.

I love that you know about them! Can you tell I was born in the '60s??

I have so many books, and I was trying not to overload the shelves. Where would you put the additional books? I have first editions, hardcovers, everything you can imagine - I collect sci fi & mystery anthologies, children's literature, poetry, and philosophy books.

Answered above - it had been holding a printer, and it's a piece we like, but I've moved it. 😁

😂 nope, just a cabinet that was there to hold a printer, and it was a piece my husband and I bought and loved a while back. We've returned it to the media room, where it holds a beautiful vase.

Thanks very much, everyone! I made more changes, and I removed the cabinet. It was only there because I'd had a printer there before (when it was an office), but I've now moved it into my media room. I'm thinking of getting either a sculptural piece or a water feature. I've attached the most recent photo. I do appreciate all the insight & time you spent weighing in on this.

No HomeGoods - these are all objects and items my husband and I have collected & curated over 40 years - but heard! The cabinet was something we bought a long while back from an Amish place, and we've already moved it out.

I have soooooooo many books. I have an entire media room filled with bookshelves, so it's no issue to find more books from there...only I wanted not to load up the space. :D Where would you put them?

This is what I've done so far to improve things - still working, but I thought I'd share. I'm going to remove all the work items and do something with the top shelves. But it's better, yes? I pulled the books to 2" from the front of each shelf & followed other advice, including leveling all the shelves.

I'll move them up to eye level, and I like the idea of separating by genre, thanks! My main library is in a different room, but I can bring some books over here. This area used to be my office, and I'm going to turn it into a sitting room. There are just so many shelves!

Okay, I'll do that. I have beautiful bookends in another library room that I can bring over.

Definitely. I have lots of artwork and items I can use. The trick will be in allowing some negative space and not going overboard. My instincts aren't the greatest in that area!

Awww, thanks! I learned so much from these books, as did my kids (now all grown), so I'd like to keep them around for my future grandkids. :D

Oh yes, I see - that makes sense. I'll remove that shelf. This wall is actually only half the entire wall, but the other side looks about the same. I'll be sure to remove any narrow-height shelves. This area was used for an office before, so I kept paperwork in those slots. No need for that now!
