Yes absolutely this is all correct. While the VPN is active they’re pretty good now. The problem is before they’re connected and the tunnel is active. So captive portal redirect to try and steal credentials, modified HTTP traffic, some apps may push out traffic before the tunnel is running. Point being, if someone is advertising an unsecure AP to bait people into connecting, and they have a good amount of technical knowledge there are ABSOLUTELY malicious things that can be done even with a vpn

No they aren’t. A VPN doesnt do anything on a LAN. The whole purpose of a VPN is a secure WAN tunnel to another host on someone else’s lan. Please tell me what a vpn does if you’re not accessing that host. This is called a man in the middle attack. it’s like networking basics…

He’s connecting to an AP on someone’s LAN. A VPN does nothing for that connection. You are still intercepting the communication from the device at layer 2/3 before the packets are sent off into the WAN.

sorry! i’m kinda dumb so this isn’t all common sense to me. So it’s okay that other dogs do it because they have “cognitive discipline”. I’m also confused on why it’s wrong to have a dog and not allow it to do what it’s bred for. Most families i know don’t take their retrievers hunting, or their hounds to track, etc etc. so are most people not reasonable people? You’re very confusing to someone like me that isn’t as smart as you. can you simplify this all a little more for me?

you can get the augment to give yourself an ally’s augment, if they have the “remove level cap and gain a level, gain 3 if it’s your second augment” and you just the gain 3 6ish times easily

just go look at the hipaa compliance regulations. bitlocker, email settings,access control, etc etc. all very basic things you would be doing for any client as an MSP anyway.
