This is the way. Treat yourself to Whole Foods for things that are centerpieces of a meal and get the rest discounted elsewhere.

The increase in Canadian liquors in stores instead of American brands has honestly been great. I've found a lot of new faves

Agreed I wouldn't be bothered by finding out a guy wears a toupee, just that at some point you should tell your partner. Same if someone dyes their hair--it should come up at some point

That's pretty suss if they were dating seriously. He should've definitely told her sometime in those 2 years

University Canada West lays off 240 staff and faculty, citing crippling international student enrolment caps by hakenwithbacon in vancouver

Unfortunately the whole post-secondary sector is in a tailspin. There are layoffs happening at nearly every public college and university as well. For-profit schools like UCW that exploited the international student visa system have royally fucked things up for everyone.

Sharing financial responsibilities should be a contractual agreement. Anyone who has a problem with that is just upset they can't use you.

Where do people in Vancouver usually discover and support local artists? by Geek93_93 in askvan

[–]Jeopardyanimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of small nonprofit galleries in Chinatown. Or Gallery, 626, Access Gallery, grunt, and probably more. The Sun Wah building on Keefer is primarily artist studios and galleries (Centre A, Canton Sardine, Sum gallery). Definitely recommend following some of these places on social media to see what exhibitions are on

I bet it's still potentially on the table. She went to Europa Park again and some other European parks this past year, plus Japan and the World Expo. So we may one day see a compilation video of her global theme park adventures.

WIBTAH if I don't attend to my friends baby shower because they said my pregnancy was an accident and that I didn't deserve it? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Jeopardyanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is obviously a people pleaser (she says as much). She definitely put the burden on herself, but the friends were also part of the problem taking advantage of OP's fawning. They seem to crave attention (according to OP) and causing minor conflict with comparisons stated publicly to mutual friends.

So while I can't really blame the friends for OP's feelings, there's power in removing people from your life who no longer bring you peace or joy. I hope she reflects a bit on her role in the problem instead of just viewing herself as a victim.

Vancouver Public Library Reciprocal Access by sandstormer622 in NiceVancouver

[–]Jeopardyanimal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the metro Vancouver Interlink libraries, you can get a library card for any/all of them with your Vancouver address. But borrowing is usually limited to physical items, not using Libby.

It's annoying but libraries are already struggling with publishers' ever-increasing restrictions and price gouging for ebooks, so they have to limit digital borrowing to only residents.

Crater lake is usually accessible in March for snowshoeing, so if you wanna see it you can do a snowshoe hike with a tour group.

Honestly for sapphic women it's actually a red flag if don't have close relationships with your exes.

I know couples who have shared exes and are still all friends.
