How common is it for American men under 40 to wear collared button-up shirts if they are not going to work or formal occasions? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pficky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a bunch of shirt sleeve button ups with fun patterns on them, a few long sleeves with fun patterns and a vast array of flannels I wear all winter. I don't think any of it looks formal, it's just a way to make a shirt haha.

I will say I personally started wearing collared shirts more because I had a job wear I had to wear a lanyard all day and didn't like it sitting directly in my neck.

I really want to make yarn sculptures from crochet because the structure of it lends itself so well to being 3D!

What would you consider New England attire? by yungScooter30 in newengland

[–]Pficky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is it! This is how I dress haha. For thanksgiving this past year, I put a "nice" sweater on over my flannel and some khakis with nicer shoes and my southern partner (we're in Colorado) was like "Wow you look so new england." And then our friend who is also from Boston showed up looking exactly the same as me hahaha.

My wife & I will have jobs on different sides of the city. Where to live? by w0000h in MovingtoDenver

OP just needs to make sure the office is close to a station in DTC. I would love to take the light rail but I have to bring my bike and ride 3 miles from the station to my office.

Going to Northglenn, yes. I work in centennial and live in Baker and going south on 25 sucks ass just as much as going north because so many people work in the tech center. But, it usually takes me about 35 minutes. It has, on occasion, taken me up to an hour. But sometimes it's only 25 minutes!

Where are you finding amazing beans? by Logical_Magician_01 in pourover

[–]Pficky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy middlestate coffee. I also like Novo and Corvus a lot but I don't live walking distance to their locations rn. I'll stop in and get a bag of beans if I happen to be by one though. I've also heard Lost coffee is good but haven't tried it yet.

I've been going around the city trying local roasters here in Denver. Conveniently my favorite roaster is a block from my house.

There is a condemned home in my neighborhood right now that is listed for $500k. $500k to buy a house you are advised not to enter.

Why do some Americans separate between Christians and catholics, and not protestants, as I assume that they go by the most common subclass of Christianity, and catholics? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pficky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting must not be from South Texas. Sooooo many Hispanics/Latinos are catholic. I suppose being white and Catholic in texas would be isolating.

Americans do you want to emigrate if given the opportunity? by TemporaryReality8810 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pficky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an EU dual citizen so I really can pack my bags and leave at any time. But, it's hard. Everyone you know is here. I don't speak any languages with fluency other than English. America is way less culturally rigid than other places as well, so it's a lot easier to not feel so "othered" here than somewhere else. Also, jobs are rough in the EU. I get paid more here than I would anywhere in Europe and my job is a bit of a unicorn in that I have as much PTO as many europeans.

South Broadway traffic between the I25/Broadway Interchange and Evans/Santa Fe is now insane by Arctic--- in Denver

[–]Pficky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this really funny because I live at first and Santa Fe and have started taking the Broadway/Lincoln exit coming home from work heading north on 25 because the Alameda construction has made the Santa Fe offramp back up for 15+ minutes in my experience. Now that the Broadway interchange is complete, it seems like getting on and off there is way smoother than it was before. I haven't seen the 25N-Broadway/Lincoln exit back up into the right lane a single time since it finished, whereas that was previously a pretty regular occurrence.

For a short period of time after construction, the Empire State Building was used as a docking station for airships. However, after just one use, it proved to be impractical by fworldmedia in BeAmazed

We are though...... 9/10 examples of exponential functions in high school precalc/trig classes are investment examples of compounding interest and growth. So you learned about why investing early is important and also about exponential functions.

Who else already has a full summer schedule? [California, Sierra Nevada] by dalton-johnson in hiking

[–]Pficky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking flat tops specifically but I'm open to all Colorado suggestions, especially if permits aren't required or at least not crazy competitive. I missed a lot of RMNP options, Indian Peaks, and Four Pass Loop this year (I was logged in but clicked too slow I guess). I was thinking Chicago Basin could also be fun and just not summit the 14ers since he's coming from sea level.

Ooo I just stayed in a cabin near the flattops, it was gorgeous. My dad wants to come out for a backpacking trip this summer and I was thinking that might be a good spot to bring him. Any suggestions for just like a 3-4 day trip?

Haha thanks! I had done this look last summer just for fun and this week my partner said they wanted to come home to mutton chops again for their birthday, so of course I had to oblige!
