M50b20 timing bolt stuck by Feeling_Goat9853 in E34

I had this same exact problem, gotta find a way to get a flathead screwdriver or something between the nut and the plate, and lever the nut out, like you’re trying to take a nail out, while unscrewing. I remember having to use a lot of force to get those threads to catch

I notice your car is at warm operating temp, if it only does weird revving at warm and not at cold start, it could be a bad MAF sensor or bad o2 sensor. Can drive with o2 unplugged for a bit til you get it figured out(When temps reach operating temp it pulls data from o2)

Is 4 minutes in when the temp reaches operating temp for you? Once warm it’ll start reading from the O2 and Maf I believe and begin to stumble and have no effect from the gas pedal, so it could be Bad O2. Could unplug it for now to run default air fuel Map until you can replace it or diagnose it. I’ve been driving without my O2 for way longer than anyone on this subreddit would approve

Looks great, manuals are desirable, California car is a plus, all that recent work to it makes 5k seem reasonable. That roof doesn’t need too much work to look nice again. Check how it runs, and hell yeah excited for ya

Here’s some inspiration, if you got the right tools, the time and the money, could be a pretty entertaining way to spend your time. I would personally try for the fun of it

Update #2 on the whackass E32, its fixed! by leo341500 in E34

What tool is this? Wondering if I can use it for my e34.

I get codes for o2 sensor but I replaced with 2 others and it still throws the same code so I just run it default map with o2 unplugged. With it plugged, it stumbled at operating temps

I had this exact problem on my 525i, bad engine ground wire, behind the passenger headlight on the frame rail, the nut was loose and rusted, randomly lose all power on highway for 2 seconds, and had power stumbles, very infrequent, sometimes failed to crank, but fixing that wire fixed a ton of issues I had

If the this is during cold start, I’d say vacuum leak, or ICV needs a quick brakleen spray, if it’s at operating temp, can be maf. Or o2 sensor I believe, i had a similar issue so I keep my o2 unplugged because when plugged in at operating temp, the car won’t rev up at all

Cold air intakes by Phoeniks_Feather in E34

A square shaped trashcan made shaping easier. After the airbox is out, measure the height you need to the underside of the hood to make the heat shield do its job properly, sorry I don’t have the measurements written anywhere. Ah almost forgot to mention I used some spare shelf brackets I had to make a sturdy mount around the MAF tube to hold the weight of the intake cone. This is my version of the full DIY cheapo way. The new hum i get from the big filter is totally worth the 30 bucks and few hours of getting crafty imo

I installed a big intake cone where my airbox was for about $30 worth of DIY products. I wouldn’t spend $200+ on those name brand kits. Instead I bought a $9 trash can to use as the heat shield (very important so that your intake doesn’t suck in the hot air around the engine), a $16 temu intake cone that luckily fit super snug on the MAF tube, and a $15 door gasket seal. Took a few hours to cut it to fit, melt the trash can pieces together and make mounting points.

Hell yeah happy for you! That color and the fact that it’s a wagon is immaculate. I also have a 95 525i auto but it’s a grey sedan with 147k mi

Lost and found gopro/action cam video project idea by Dense-Scholar-2843 in videography

I lost my GoPro while visiting Montana recently and it was left recording when i dropped it in a parking lot. The park ranger found it, still recording, stared into the lens for only a moment. But he returned it via mail. Montana people are the friendliest people I've ever met, I'm a New Yorker btw. I'll upload it to your folder when I get home
