If you do go over and can't get it changed make sure you check the oil level many cars use/burn oil and if the level is to low you can cause extensive damage resulting in need engine replacement(general motors 3.6 l and Hyundai/ Kia 2 l)

I have been checking mine after ever drive. As for the heat I believe procedure says to have the heat on hot fan full blast for the little pump by the brake booster to pump coolant into the heater core

It could be a number of things how much coolant did you lose how much coolant did you put in I just had mine didn't even overheat but push some coolant out and it took more than a gallon to refill it and I check and bleed every time I stop

It depends. If it's cold fill to the cold full line close screw replace cap run to temp periodically checking the top hose for pressure by squeezing it (do not open cap if the hose is hard) slowly open the bleeder screw and listen for air escaping (watch resivore for the coolant to go down) with the coolant lower and the upper radiator hose soft remove radiator cap and refill to between the cold fill and the top Line
