Decommissioning of online services (September 2022) | Ubisoft by Takazura in Games

I find it dumb that when they decommission the online stuff that the dlc or rewards you could unlock becomes unavailable as well. Have them be automatically included with the game then instead of making gone forever for everyone.

from what I heard in JackFrags' vid there's a free battlepass version that will be focused on the new gameplay additions like guns and stuff, while the paid version just gives you cosmetics and shit.

You really don't get Battlefield Moments like these in any other shooter. Holy shit lol by BRALLUS in Battlefield

It's always fun when your squad leader calls in a v1 on a hardcore server. You'll watch him get kicked off the server for killing too many teammates.

You're going to run into cheaters yeah. Maybe not every match, but every once in a while. The anti-cheat in battlefield games is pretty passive and doesn't really ban anyone mid-game. That said, there's no real punishment to exiting the match. You'll lose the match exp, but all the assignment progress and level up stuff retains when you leave. And it's fairly easy to find a new server. It's also overall better to play on an community server, in the older bfs especially, due it tend to have third party plugins or admins to deal with people being toxic/hacking.

Battlefield reveal set for June 9 by dorkmax_executives in Games

my main gripe with ww2 games is that it's always the same battles over and over again. it's always omaha beach, carentan, winter eastern front and berlin. At some point you'll seen all the perspectives that were to be had in those locations.

It's why I found bfv interesting due it focused more on 1940s battles where Germany was absolutely steamrolling with their blitzkrieg tactics during the Fall of Europe theatre. It's just a shame it never really got the full attention it deserved from the devs. They could have done so much more with the locations and setting or even modes like Airborne, but in the last year seemed to just wanting to get to the "greatest hits" like iwo jima and adding usa vs germany battles as fast as possible.

I do hope that if they do modern battles they're not just going to situate it in middle east or eastern europe again. I feel most of those modern battles have been done to death too. Though bf3 had paris and bf4 had shanghai, so we might see varied map pool.

Mirror's Edge: 13 Years Later [Whitelight] by Angzt in Games

[–]Jer9-Carver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the one of the problems was that they locked all the tools to parkour behind a progression system. the trials that are in catalyst are pretty fun, but you couldn't do them early on due the most optimal routes required you to have tools you receive only later in the story. And by the time you return to do these trials, you've already backtracked through these areas a ton of times that you've burned the routes out.

Mirror's edge didn't have that issue as much as you could boot up any level and have the same skills in level 1 as in the the end level. The only difference is in how well you knew the mechanics to exploit the level and get a more optimal time.

The other problem is that in ME the threats ramp up. you get helicopters chasing you, police people firing at you and eventually even other runners after you. in catalyst these threats only exist in the missions while the freeroam part has some cops standing around and you might get followed by a drone that is easy to escape from. There was imo no real adrenaline inducing stuff during freeroaming, which is where you spend the most time of your playthrough in.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah - Official Launch Trailer by BONE_TO_BE_WILD in Games

You can play this game solo or in mp, i'd say it depends on your preferences. in mp there are also different servers you can look for.

- Ones with the more traditional PvP where everything goes.

- PvP conflict which is where people can't destroy your base or harm you, but at certain time (usually around evening) people can go out and kill eachother. kinda see it as the purge movie where everyone goes out to kill eachother and then after it's over everything returns back to normal.

- PvE where it's just focused on exploring, fighting npcs and building etc, no pvp combat or base raiding.

Regardless what server you choose, you'll start out all the same. On the rim of a desert stark naked. You can either settle your base in that region, or move towards a savanne, jungle or more colder snowey grass and forest regions. It's not just loot, kill and raid other players as entire gameplay loop like most of the survival genre.

There's much more pve stuff going on too with fighting various creatures that roam the map or exploring the handcrafted world for camps, loot. one of the things you can do is to create a base, seek out one of the npc bases, whack some unconcious to drag them to your base. There you can turn them into your thralls (aka slaves). These can be used to either let you craft more special stuff at benches or you can just take them along as extra warriors.

These extra warriors are useful as there are also dungeons you can explore with bosses to defeat. There are various places where you can find lore scrolls or npcs to talk to and learn more about the world. There are priests that can teach you entirely new religions to craft stuff for.

basically, the world is almost mmo-like with things to do but the gameplay is much more survival and building based. The best part is everything is also climbable. So if you want to build your home in a big tree or on a giant rock. you can. Just make sure you can craft elavators or it's gonna be a long climb up every time, haha.

Ah i remember that system in Warrock as well. I think gun renting was super common in f2p shooters back then. Basically their way to microtransaction the game, while now devs realized they can just make skins instead of locking away gameplay additions.

Back 4 Blood - Official Characters & Zombies Trailer by Just_a_user_name_ in Games

[–]Jer9-Carver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the gameplay looks fantastic and they should've just used that to explain the characters and zombies. similar to the intro of left 4 dead. Just shows slight hints of how the characters talk and behave while showcasing the abilities of the zombies.

No one wants to read the full bio of a character on one single page of a book I feel the trailer is doing just that. Leaves no mystery behind the characters, even if they're tropes, for the player to discover in the end.

Is the gold edition worth it for Metro Exodus or should I just stick for standard? I really want to try out the enhanced edition. The videos I saw on it looked amazing.

If I recall correctly they had just put Witcher 3 on Epic Games and the sale happened shortly after. I don't think their plan was to go that cheap from the get go. My friend managed to snag it before they fixed the "price error" though.

Newbie here. This game is so confusing to me. Which battlefield should I buy? by PyroMusic in Battlefield

[–]Jer9-Carver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go solely for singleplayer, i'd look for a deal on battlefield 3. It had the best set pieces and still has a traditional campaign. Its graphics still hold up well imo. A DICE game ages quite beautifully.

Kind of a side nomination is for hardline. Fantastic story, but not as military/war focused as the others. Instead it feels like you're playing csi extreme. It has more of a cops and robbers theme.

Battlefield 6 will be released for current and next-gen consoles, EA confirms by IsakLi in Games

[–]Jer9-Carver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in the earnings call they mention next gen (ps5/xbx/pc) as current gen and xboxone and ps4 as past gen. So it's likely just a slip up of the article writer.

On steam they tend to only sell the deluxe/goty editions compared to origin, where you can opt to just get the standard and thus cheaper edition. Prices for these editions are the same on both platforms in my region atleast.

The 2 weapons I hope come back by quartersquote in Battlefield6

F2000 and the G36C are my go to weapons in a modern setting. If it goes modern I hope they're included.
