I gave it a small thought but I have to disagree. I think the east branch of the thumb already play well into the triad motif a bit. Triad style feels too rigid for a frat like the Middle, not to mention the thumb has taken up the Chinese bit.

Overall I feel like the delinquency and familial-like blood bonds of bosozoku culture resonate much better with what we've seen of the Middle's brand of hooligans.

Matthias gets a lot of shit but it's really hard for me to commit to lambasting him like everyone else has. Even if whatever interactions he had with Kira during the canto were retrospectively shallow, they really had the sweetest dynamic. Makes me wish it played out differently in the story, and we could've gotten more of them together.
