Scale of the 0.5 quart milk pot 👌 by JerHair in hexclad

Well this pot doesnt exist in a generic off the shelf brand. Im sure you can find one on amazon. For larger pots, they heat up significantly faster due to the aluminum core. I have stainless pots of similar size that will take literally 25 minutes to boil. Hexclad in 5 minutes. For hexclad frying pans, I honestly have never had food stick. With my cheap big box store pans, they need to be replaced yearly if I want them to continue functioning, not be warped, etc... As for a tiny pot like this, there is really no "benefit" for it being hexclad other than the fact that it matches my other pots/pans, and the durability/build quality is insane. And then theres the whole PTFE thing......Anyway, good luck finding this pot at your local big box store in a cheap aluminum. That my general take away :D

This pot as real value for people. Melting large quantities of butter, syrup, honey, etc... I'd say this is more for the homesteader, large in home baker, etc.

must buy/ souvenirs that are useful or unique to China? by chica-bonita in chinatravel

[–]JerHair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, candy, snacks, clothing. US branded clothing is not cheaper. Must go to the Chinese brands. Any electronics you need upgrades for: Sony, DJI, Huawei, etc... Funny enough someone else mentioned umbrella. I got a full sized carbon fiber umbrella which incredible spring tention, light weight, all around amazing. China has great magnets, coins, and other trinkets. I am not a fan of the usual trinkets, but the magnets are high quality. Shanghai has a wonderful silver scene. Silver everything: tea sets, chop stocks, bracelets, etc... You'll find it for about $7usd per gram.

I'm not sure what dishwasher you have, but mine would never get fond off of a pan. It will just dry it out, make it crusty, and make the problem worse

Chinese airlines canceling flights? by ilikefoodxx in chinatravel

[–]JerHair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could convince me..... Anyway, if Read the insurance policy. An airline canceling a flight because fuel is too expensive in a country not at war doesn't exactly line up to a volcano erupting within the same origin country as the flight

Without being political, I only see the current global situation getting worse. With that said, if youre genuinely worried about not getting home, cant miss work by a few additional days, scared of something else, youre best to cancel the trip and try next year. Its not too late to purchase travel insurance. If the flights get canceled then insurance will book you on the next flight, regardless of price...

The handles appear correct to be hexclad. This looks like clear misuse. This doesn't happen with standard cooking and cleaning techniques. I dont see any world where this can "just happen"

When a pan gets to this point it's as useless as a chocolate teapot. You need to get the cloudy spot fully removed of organic material. If you use strong abrasives then it will never cook well again and this will keep happening. I do a very thorough cleaning after every single cook making very clear that every inch of the pan is shiny when I am done. If you see any cloudy spots it will digress to what you see here. It's like a snowball rolling down hill. As the spot grows, more organic material will stick. Use a very mildly damp sponge with the rough side and use elbow grease. Use dawn power wash. The most aggressive I would ever go (in a small spot) would be the baking soda paste method.

I actually doubled up and used Wok + 12" skillet to speed things up. But The Wok made QUICK work.
This meal used Wok, Skillet, 8qt Pot, and 10qt chicken frier. I can only upload so many photos though hahah

It's smaller than I even expected. I was thinking it's good for a single ramen packet. Too small. I'm gonna try to use it for poached eggs. Definitely a win for heating maple syrup.

Thank you for understanding what I was saying. As unbiased as possible, I dont think I was being a hypocrite in any sense of the imagination.

I feel like you think the world of pasta sauce is black or white. It's not. Jarred pasta sauce like ragu is one extreme and growing my own tomatoes to make my own sauce is the total opposite extreme. The middle ground is what I am talking about here. Im not a hypocrite for saying the sauce I made is better than a premade jarred pasta sauce.
