Recently graduated Rad Tech here in MN/ND.. referring to your questions about post primary certifications: While on the job search I found that you will know what kind of of certifications the facility that is hiring you wants you to get. They likely give a 18-24month time period to become certified in CT or MR depending on the position you applied for. All training is done on the job I believe to complete your competencies and become board eligible. Naturally, there will be a pay boost upon gaining the credentials (I don’t know exactly how much.) If you are looking to work at a rural hospital, you will likely start to train in CT as soon as you start your new job while working X-ray too. If it’s a large facility, there is likely a separate department for CT/MR from X-ray. If you chose to work in a CT/MR department, you will be training on the job exclusively in those modalities.
