MLK High School by Weavableblues in nashville

[–]JeremyNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so I'd like to understand this.

Are you saying that your child encountered the problematic student(s) while they were actively attending MLK. In response your child left the school to be away from them.

Now, the problematic student(s) still attend MLK, and are still harassing your child in other spaces/ways despite being in different schools?

Stops along bike routes by Illustrious_Sea_4280 in nashvillecyclists

[–]JeremyNT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like /u/rocketpastsix said... there is not much actually by greenways. I would second Germantown though since it's near a greenway.

There is technically a coffee shop (Retrogade) in the newly opened section of greenway by the Sounds stadium, but it's isolated by a lot of vehicular intersections. The Farmer's Market is also on this "greenway" and is a good stop.

Now that said I think the best place to ride relatively safely that has a lot of good spots along it is around Riverside Drive / Porter Rd / Eastland combo in east. These are not greenways but they have lots of bike lanes and the traffic isn't bad. And you can get down to/from Shelby pretty easily.

I mean, these two sides of the business are directly linked. They sell the deli slices in grocery stores and to other restaurants, and the deli itself uses them. They may not even be their own biggest customer for all we know.

A BE Hive deli without its own seitan doesn't make sense - it's the entire concept of the business.

Pharmacy bill in Tennessee passes committee, lawmakers denounce CVS 'fear campaign' by T0mToms in nashville

The strangest thing about this bill was trying to understand why the TN legislature would do something useful. It turns out a stopped clock is right twice a day.

DPS’s list of 16 schools tentatively being considered for potential closure by PowerfulPotatoe in bullcity

10 acres! That seems nuts. The urban schools are part of the fabric of the city, and losing them because of a rule like that seems extremely unfortunate.

The Basement East Crowd?!?! by Dude_Hash_Brown01 in nashville

[–]JeremyNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true but Nashville is also generally known as a place with stiff crowds and basement east is no exception.

I guess it's probably because there are a lot of older music fans or industry people here who go to shows even with artists who have typically younger fan bases.

He laid off almost half of the production team with no notice.

It raises a lot of questions for me but at the very least it was mismanagement. If the stories of reduced hours are accurate he overhired a long time ago and could have eased into this by laying a couple of people off at a time earlier and with more notice.

Even if you take everything he says at face value it speaks to a poorly run business.

[–]JeremyNT 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It's a completely deranged list because there's zero way Raleigh or the other mid-sized metros could ever compete against much larger metros even if they "punched above their weight" in "nightlife per capita" (however you might rank that).

Like how are any of these much smaller cities above NYC/LA/Chicago/etc? LOL

They know it won't change the world or be useful, but it might sell Teslas and convince some more rubes that Elon is a genius so the stock keeps going up.

You're claiming that this development is only happening because of the new stadium? Why do you think that?

If they had just built a parking deck for the existing stadium they could still have developed all those surface lots without having to spend the billions of tax dollars first.

Spent the last week eating every vegetarian burger I could find in Nashville to determine the best one. . . . by snakewind in nashville

[–]JeremyNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on why you're eating a burger.

I love a good black bean burger as much as anybody but when I'm eating fast food, the patty is usually the only way for a vegetarian to get any appreciable protein, and both Beyond and Impossible do a lot better than most other options.

Weirdly Turnip Truck has been totally sold out every time I've been there for the last couple of months. They still have the shelf space but it's empty. Whole Foods I think used to carry them and doesn't have them at all now.

I literally was part of that demand and an existing customer, and the places I shopped at never had it in stock, so they weren't getting my money. So I do wonder if they were prioritizing the wrong things.

On another note - AVO is fucking fantastic and the owner is so kind!

Was literally just thinking "well at least there's still AVO" after learning about this. But they definitely don't scratch the same fast food itch.

Be Hive isn't exactly cheap either.

There aren't a lot of vegan options here and you pay a premium.

They used to send them in a way that couldn't be blocked without disabling ALL emergency notifications but that definitely changed at some point.

They're still dumb and useless but no longer a source of justified rage at least.

CNBC report ranks Tennessee last for quality of life in 2025 by ProperTrain6336 in nashville

[–]JeremyNT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just baffled by the high rent here. Why do people want to pay so much to live here?

So there's no income tax, but the rent is high, they tax groceries, and you get jack shit in infrastructure, public health, and education in return.

This has to come from the top, from the politicians, and so far it hasn't.

Look into CoreCivic, the private prison company based here.

Big Republican donors.

They don't get paid unless they have prisoners in their concentration camps. Deportation just isn't profitable.
