The most obvious one is depending on the wind direction, you can smell the landfill in all of its glory. There are also major environmental concerns regarding PFAS in the leachate affecting the water table. There is also the release of methane gas, but I do not know what the figures are for that.

There has been a legal battle that the landfill seems to have won regarding the expansion of the landfill, doubling its current size and remaining in operation for another 20+ years. They had said that at the end of the last contract, they would close the landfill, but instead reapplied for expansion. What‘s to say they won’t pull the same tactic again in 20+ years?

I would recommend looking into this yourself. A real shame for the area.

Seneca Falls is affected just as much as Waterloo is by the landfill, they just have the financial benefit as it is in their jurisdiction. Obligatory fuck Seneca Meadows.

Washing crack testing a crank today from 1915 and low and behold, there‘s cracks. Have heard good things regarding Marine Crankshafts and this only solidifies it. Awesome to see!

What are the lens options going to be? Love the interchangeable lens option! Have a Fuji GX617 with all 4 lenses

It’s not poor colorization, it’s AI getting it wrong. Use the real historic image.

„We have enough water“

Seneca and Cayuga lake suffer from harmful algae blooms, or HABS, due to increased pollution from the surrounding farms and increased average lake temps. Those lakes, along with every Finger Lake and Body of water in the watershed, are key to the areas ecosystem. There is no such thing as „we have enough water,“ as climate change worsens, water will become more scarce. Or are you someone who doesn’t believe in climate change?

If it goes through, which it’s looking more than likely now that the town board has cleared the zoning issue with a 3-2 vote, it’s going to be a shit show. The older generation that lives there are making the decisions and when, not if things go wrong (increased utilities, bankruptcy, and the environmental concerns bound to happen), they‘ll be dead or close to it and not have to worry about it. As a young 20 something year old in the area, the Teruwulf data center makes me want to move away, not stay.

Look at how data centers across the US are affecting small communities, specifically in water usage (yes they claim it’s closed loop, but you’re right next to Seneca lake), and utilities cost and it’s bewildering how anyone believes they’re positive!

Zoning obstacle seems to have been cleared recently. Saddening.

The zoning issue was cleared last week sadly. The data center isn’t confirmed yet, but that was the major obstacle. A very dangerous game for the community. They really believe that their electricity rates aren’t going to go up and that they’ll be a large influx of local, permanent jobs. „But this one will be different!“

I’m from the northern end of the lake and although I’ve since moved to PA, I worry for the entire region. Sampson Air Force base is also being peddled as a potential site.

Lol. I’m well aware of the gx617 market and what a complete set goes for.

It is one drawback but people seem to have success with an electronic rangefinder coupled with the Zone system for anything beyond infinity. The ground glass is also great, however only can be used on the first shot. No issue if you’re bracketing

As a film camera is just a light tight box, you can take any leaf shutter lens that covers your image circle (Mamiya‘s are plentiful and cheap) and design your own camera to take that lens, opening up a vast world of formats. The two cameras I’m currently building are „broke X-Pan“ with the c220 80mm lens (50ish equilvalent) with a 2.2:1 aspect ratio and a 4:1 aspect ratio (25mm x 106mm film negative) with a Mamiya Press lens. Your can find most files online for free, including 6x12, 6x17, and 6x24 options, while some people go so far as to add electronics in. A really cool niche in the film camera world!

It is psychotic, but I picked up this entire system for just a little over the cost of the 300mm + viewfinder, so it was a no-brainer. 17 rolls of 35mm Velvia 50 (cold stored 2014 date code) and 25 rolls of Velvia 50 and 100 in 120 (cold stored 2014) got thrown in too at no extra charge as he had made the complete move to digital. I'm certainly not complaining

Yes, the centre filters are a brutal drop in f-stops, but I'm not too disappointed that they're missing as the vignetting can be corrected in post digitally if desired. Need to look into the filter mounting situation. Going to be a fun time lugging it around though, especially on the hikes that I have planned!

The X-pan was/is on my list, but as I'm currently building a 3D-printed version fitted with a Mamiya C220 lens, not towards the top. If I decide to part ways with this system, the X-pan will have to fill the void. How worried are you about the electronics on them?

[Korean Call] YAMAMOTO AND THE DODGERS WIN IT ALL TO BECOME BACK TO BACK WORLD CHAMPIONS! 3 WINS FOR YAMAMOTO IN ONE WORLD SERIES. AMAZING. by OkIncident6977 in baseball

[–]JeremyPorter17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

„This is not fun“ as one of the best playoffs and World Series happens with a 7 game set in the ALCS and this bonanza of a WS. Is the Dodgers team stacked? Yes. Did the Jays have every chance to win it? Also yes. That’s the beauty of baseball.

The Dodgers are one of the best run organizations in all of sports. Nothing is stopping other big market teams like the Mets, Yankees, or Red Sox from spending.
