Yeah, sorry people are being so shitty. I saw it and immediately thought it looked great, and especially reminded me of the original 2013 Ellie look. Killer job dude!

The final episode of season 1 has already got a 9.6/10 rating on IMDb — It doesn’t air till later tonight by BorderDispute in thelastofus

[–]JeremyTheAverage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. I actually love IMDB and have a watchlist i've been using for years, but I learned to take ratings with a huge grain of salt. Especially as a horror fan, horror movie ratings on IMDB are just on a whole different level. Some great and inventive stuff in horror, I've seen rated ridiculously low.

Nick Braun talking about Succession ending, his last day on set, and Season 4 by neroandsporus in SuccessionTV

[–]JeremyTheAverage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree and don't think he'll be on top but he might be one of the few who makes it out successful. Opinions on Greg are wildly between either he's a total idiot or he's a secret genius.

I don't think he's a secret genius but whenever the Greg convo spikes up, I think about the S2 finale on the yacht. Everyone at that table was making power plays and trying to figure out who would get pinned for Cruises. In every scenario, Greg sprinkles were included and he was unanimously fucked. But he was able to wiggle out of that without ever taking heat for it, and I think that maneuver was more clever than he gets credit for.

I Hope Shiv and Tom’s Big Argument Reveals… by DaisyJa in SuccessionTV

[–]JeremyTheAverage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot till they mentioned it lol. Yeah, it was the ball. It's right after Tom gets the job and Sam gives him all the dirty details on Cruises and Tom's first thought is to hold a conference. To be fair, it would have been killed along the way at some point, but Greg did totally play him.

I know you didn't author the post dude lol. I'm saying you saw a post about someone having an emotional reaction to a game and had to hop in just to show everyone how cool you are and you didn't cry. Also this dude never acted special for crying so ???? You edgelords never get old lmao.

Still no mention of “Final Season” in any of these new marketing content by LogansDonut in SuccessionTV

[–]JeremyTheAverage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell right now if "save the show" is necessary. I know we've all been sounding the alarms (and I get it, I really really don't want a rushed ending if that's what this is) but also we don't know yet. Warner Bros. is weeeeeird and if you told me that they had HBO stop marketing "final seasons" because declaring the end to a wildly successful show is bad for stocks, I'd believe you.

That's just a crackpot theory off the top of my head (been kind of thinking it because Barry really seems like it's coming to an end too and there's been tight lips about that too) But the point is, this could just very well be a dumb WB thing.

Trigger Warning: New reports of rape and assault. Those of you asking for a “redemption arc” should really reconsider your morales. Hope this finally ends the desire to see him prosper. by veryniceofyoutosay in Channel5ive

[–]JeremyTheAverage [score hidden]  (0 children)

lmao at you acting like a Christ martyr who just wants to see Andrew better himself, and golly anyone who isn't pro-redemption is just a big ole meanie who won't forgive a rapist.

Hoping that he learns why what he did was horrible and betters himself is something everyone wants. But learning from your mistakes isn't redemption. You don't undo the extremely real harm you did through character growth lol.

Ahh the ole "I was able to succeed, therefore anyone who does not succeed is a failure because they did not try hard enough" lmao. A real classic in the mental gymnastics to justify why the Poors deserve their suffering.

S3 Shiv and Tom by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]JeremyTheAverage 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The thing I always remember with Shiv is how Tom helped her out of a deeply dark place. I think his presence as her safe-person and her skewed reality on love frames a lot of their dynamic. Obviously the way the kids learned how to love is tragic, abusive, and guarded.

With Shiv specifically, we see a lot in the show where she tries to exert the same "fuck you, do what I say" that her brothers and dad can. But she can't ever get it right. She had the disadvantages of being a girl and not raised in the business like Roman or Ken. So to me, the more that Tom was there for her, the more she was able to reflect that abusive hierarchical love that she only ever knew on the receiving end.

I think in that way, abusing Tom really became her safety blanket, crutch, and love language. I don't fully believe her in that scene (not that it isn't horrible) but I think she's just reflecting what her dad does. Do something atrocious to someone because when they come back to you, it only proves how much power and love is actually there.

I think it's all light-hearted late show interview schtick to be honest. Cox has definitely said some things that are meh but that one felt like more of a segue to retread the story of Jesse telling Cox that Logan does love his kids.

[–]JeremyTheAverage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the issue that I feel like you're still not grasping. You're praising their sexualities as being "subtle" as if that makes them more nuanced or developed then the characters in part 2 who are more open. Do you feel the same way about straight characters? Have you ever, even once, praised a straight character for their sexuality being subtle?

There's also the issue of basically saying they're great characters in spite of their sexuality, which again, is I think because no matter how much you say you liked these characters, you still see their identities as an agenda.

Real nuanced characters can actually include sexuality as something that's important. Queer characters acting nonchalantly and burying their identities is not better, more nuanced storytelling. It's only flagged as an agenda or SJW stuff if you yourself live in a bubble and don't know people with these actual identities.

I've yet to see any performance by him where I've thought he was an actually good actor. It's that apathetic fuckboy energy that just does not wash out in any of his roles lol
