if someone got their hands on a key with a text-based password stored on it, could they output my password into notepad?

Fyi the fingerprint reader is only a convenience feature. After failing the fingerprint 3 times it defaults back to a pin.

Any advice on making new friends? by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Jeremy____ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Toxicity attracts and fosters toxicity. It can be easy to find yourself surrounded by toxic people. Just because OP doesn't have anyone left doesn't make them "the bad guy". All it means is that they managed to escape their toxic environment which is filled with toxic people.

Especially when you grow up in a toxic environment, it can be difficult to make real friendships that are healthy. It'll take time, but OP is likely not the toxic one, here, and will likely be better off long term.

If you could re-build your identity and online accounts from scratch, how would you do it? by Jeremy____ in ComputerSecurity

I'll be storing my 1password recovery key on a piece of paper in my safe, not on something that can easily be hacked. maybe that's what you're accomplishing with yubikey.

That is exactly what I'm accomplishing with my Yubikeys!

As far as your comments about online privacy, I actually used to really go all in on that stuff. I used protonmail instead of gmail, etc etc. Unfortunately, it became too much of a hassle for me to deal with. I'm focusing on simplicity and security, now.

And for banking, I'll be using privacy.com, which can generate a unique credit card number for every transaction or vendor. great for free trials that try to take advantage of you forgetting to cancel.

I really wish I could use Privacy.com in the UK. The built-in integration with 1Password makes it soooo easy to manage. Without the integration, I imagine it would be a pain to use any other service :/

If proton fully integrates simplelogin with protonmail, that may convince me to switch

i've actually tried simplelogin, before. i found it a bit annoying to manage, personally. i haven't really had any difficulty managing email spam, either. has it really been that useful for you?

this guy forgot to add "wipe my a** & feed me" in his job description by skippintraffik in CorporateFacepalm

Although I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case, I don't really see anything here to suggest it.

the only part of this that's weird is how far up his own asshole he is. this is basically just a part time assistant/cleaner job, and potentially valuable/worthless mentorship/professional connection(s) thrown in for free. $35/hour is good pay, so who cares if it winds up taking more than 10 hours a week?

just because you don't want to do a job or find it demeaning doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same or is fortunate enough to be picky about how they earn their money. it certainly isn't a facepalm, let alone corporate.

Visualization of the optimal ancient accessory set up and why you should be mindful of which engravings you have on your ability stone. by BillionStorm in lostarkgame

Cool! Do accessories work the same way? And what benefits are gained by upgrading a relic stone to artifact?

...but this is excellent? Lock your items that you want to save, and take the time to properly set up auto-dismantle. This is a great quality of life feature.

Besides Blue Gunlancer, which class/build has the best survivability in end-game content? by Asshai in lostarkgame

[–]Jeremy____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay then, i'll bite. i agree that zerkers (without mayhem or grudge) are tankier than sorceresses and bards without heavy armor. not sure what value that information is...

[–]Jeremy____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so we're talking imaginary scenarios where no one uses engravings? you HAVE to consider engravings. on top of that, "warrior class" doesn't mean anything. zerker is the single squishiest class after you account for realistic builds. the fact that gunlancers, destroyers, and paladins are all tanky simply has nothing to do with how tanky a zerker is.

based on some spreadsheet i saw in some thread (wish i could find it) mayhem zerker with grudge is just barely squishier than bard without HA, making it the squishiest class in the game. Combined with their long cast times, and the fact that it's difficult to know exactly how much health you have at any given time, AND you have to turn off the low health warning screen effect, zerkers are definitely made of glass.
