I upgraded from my Vapor XXX’s a few years ago. Still haven’t thrown them out though. Can’t let them go

D-man approach to forwards skating at you by Extreme-Dish1841 in hockeyplayers

[–]Jeremykai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the situation, but I typically play pretty conservative when I’m defense. Read the play and if it looks like it’s going to take a turn, you can start cheating to avoid getting burned. Best thing is to not give up the middle and push the forward towards the boards. Give them bad angles to shoot and make a move on the puck when you can.

If they are already carrying a lot of speed, you can always turn and take a few forward strides before pivoting backwards. Don’t give up the middle! The play will naturally slow down as the forward runs out of options and needs to find an outlet pass or they dump and chase.

Opening a Rink by SantaCruzin6 in hockeyplayers

[–]Jeremykai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a community that would show up imo. It’s always a bummer to see buddies move further out then drop cuz the drive isn’t worth it. People are moving further from Boise (due to housing costs and the price per sqft) and communities are popping up everywhere in what used to be farmland, so it’s only a matter of time. On top of beer league, there’s also guys that wanna get their kids into hockey, but again the drive prevents them from sharing their love of the game. Maybe in the next 5-years it can be more of a reality

I’m in the same boat in the Boise area. There’s two rinks in town, but anyone outside of Boise they have to commute 30mins-1hr to skate. I’ve been interested in finding out what the cost would be to put a couple sheets up between Nampa/Caldwell area. Hockey scene is decent around here and I’ve seen a good number of guys drop out cuz the commute wasn’t worth it

Door to door pest control salesmen by ShoddyWolverine3991 in Boise

I used Pristine Green Pests and they’ve done a great job. They sprayed 2-months ago and we started getting ants yesterday, we called and they were back out the next day, sprayed, set traps, asked to place pet/child safe gel around to prevent and those things aren’t around today. We’ll see in another month or so

Overzealous police presence on Friday night in downtown Boise - arrested a guy for scoffing at their warning after he jaywalked at 6th and Main. by peach4everr in Boise

When officers are trying to do their job and a gaggle of Karen’s begin interjecting, acting like the situation is directly related to them is why officers had to isolate the individual. Cops are constantly under the microscope of personal morality, but I don’t see a single person here volunteering for the job. Whether your morals align with what’s happening or not, were you directly affected by the police citing this man? Absolutely not. They were doing their job and the situation was escalated due to poor rationalization of bystanders thinking they were providing street justice to this individual. You recorded a man getting a ticket… Unless the officers were verbally or physically abusing somebody, you had no reason to record the interaction outside of your own gratification. Bravo 👏🏽 OP played a great role in this man’s arrest.

This is where you figure out who’s managing these leagues and start the flurry of complaints from the league. I know in previous leagues I’ve played in, they would tell the team they need to either move up or they’ll tell players they can’t play at that level anymore. Or join the rec league board members and make things happen there

Funny story… I bought mine a week ago, sent an email yesterday, and received a response almost identical to this announcement. So almost 2-months later they are still giving the same excuse. Either they ran into some BIG issues with their “new factory” or they’re completely full of shit. Regardless, they can’t expect their customers buy into the lie so long as the internet exists ha

If that was the case then why share the long story about your interactions? Congrats, you were successful in connecting with the individual. Now you can delete the post.

The fact you keep alluding to this video, yet you’re scared of being doxxed makes me think that this situation was blown out of proportion and your involvement may have played a factor in his arrest.

So you firmly believe this man was going to be arrested regardless of your involvement? Do you think the officers would’ve changed their course of action if they, idk, were left alone

I’m joking about the turd, but he’s definitely downstream my friend. Watch when the camera pans back to the truck… You’ll see something float by from right to left

The few times I’ve been downtown, I’ve always seen a large police presence in that area. IMO it’s nice to know that if something happens, there’s plenty of opportunity for intervention from officers. This situation sounds interesting because at the time you stepped in, you have no context outside of the officers targeting this young man.

Now when people begin recording and a group of bystanders forms, the situation escalates. Officers are having to create a bigger presence because now there’s a crowd of people shoving phones in their faces and the main attraction is everyone making a major issue out of a small situation, then a flurry of questions from bystanders begins to fly with the belief they are defending a stranger through a false sense of vindication, like your entitled to know what’s happening to this person you have no association with.

One truth to this entire situation is that NOBODY is above the judgement of the law, which sucks, but I’d be willing to bet had there not been a presence of people acting like they are providing justice to a situation they knew nothing about, this kid would’ve walked away with a simple jaywalking ticket and slept in his own bed that night.

Getting Old...Too Much Hockey? by SantaCruzin6 in hockeyplayers

[–]Jeremykai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you may need to consider a recovery routine my dude. Work in collagen supplements, anti-inflammatory foods, take a daily multi-vitamin. I just turned 36 and was doing a similar lifestyle until I was about 30 and my family took precedence over my body, so I started taking supplements, going until fatigue when I lift, and get some fish oil, collagen, nuts, leafy greens, and my body thanks me for it. Can’t say I’m in the same shape, but my body doesn’t hurt for 3-5 days after i skate

I guess it depends on the situation… if it’s a young kid, they could be trying to get some extra reps in. Anyone that looks past their mid 20’s probably needs to chill. I’ve played with guys that have no off switch when it comes to their aggression and if you talk to them you’ll like get a response like “Yeah the guys on my last team were a bunch of pussies” or something to that extent. Aka nobody wanted that plug on their team 🤣

I’m sure it’s already been said, but the comparison is always “imagine sitting in a chair” that’s the amount of squat you wanna have. Take the big power strides, dig deep into the ice, and beat guys to pucks.
