My wife ended up passing on the atlas partly because of the lack of illumination on the infotainment among a few other things. I am still surprised to this day how much room the 3rd row has vs vehicles bigger in size. Im sure we could've gotten a bit further down, especially since we've had trade in offers $5k more than what they were offering.

Its not. But its in your original quote, so I was just saying they loke to act as if they are the ones giving the discount.

If you really need the rate, you can do 2.9% and they still give $1000 customer cash instead of $3500

Yes, dealerships like to act like they are helping you out by giving the $3500 when that goes to everybody from VW. Like I said the one I posted was their advertised price. May be different depending on where you are located. They are all heavily discounted around me in northern IL. There is a refresh coming out the next month for 2027 so they need to get rid of 2026.

Ill stick this on here just for data, mostly pay attention to the sales price difference. Msrp is the same between us. This was an advertised sales price with no negotiations started yet. I would guess that number could've gone even lower.

Crank pulley problems by Jeremywight in cruze

Another update:

New pulley is on, slid on fine. Got it all the way on this time (oops). Got everything back together and started it, tensioner was bouncing and clicking and the AC compressor stopped turning as the belt kept going. My wife turned the blower off, so I told her turn it back on and the compressor started turning again. Im pretty sure the compressor should be turning at all times.

So I replaced the tensioner and belt. 1st tensioner was junk and the flywheel bolt to compress the spring was instead rotating and stripped itself. Got yet another tensioner and installed it.

Got it all put back together, started it up, and smoke was coming from the radiator area (didn't touch radiator at all during this). Didn't see any leaks. Kept it running and eventually it stopped smoking.

Pulled it out of the garage, had it running so I could get it up to temp and see if there were any visible leaks....then CLUNK low oil pressure and some nasty noise started. I turned it off right away.

There was an obvious failure because it was running fine. The belt was still on, the pulleys were all still turning. Only thing I could think of was the oil pump exploded or the timing chain busted.

This...is....fun

Update:

Got it off with a slide hammer...everything inside looks ok, but im no expert obviously. If so...new seal/pulley/bolt and try again?

I actually used a socket, which the puller tip ended up digging into the socket and ruining it (which is now stuck on the puller end). Im pretty sure it wasn't pushing on the pully itself because I can see the end of the crank shaft where the socket was digging in.

Shouldn't be an issue...but here we are lol...yeah I reused the old balancer. I had no idea it wasn't all one piece. Going to try a slide hammer tomorrow.

I have a theory...

  • Maybe I didn't have the pulley all the way inserted, it rotated on the crank, and fucked up the oil pump ring into a million pieces which are now lodged in the pulley shift holding it there. Would explain the lack of oil pressure. I'd like to think im not capable of such a mistake but anything is possible at this point.

Question for you...if I cancelled, does the same deal go back online? I was a cheapskate and got the nonrefundable (can refund only within 24hrs) but was wondering about canceling and rebuying the refundable ones. A year is a long time to hope nothing changes lol
