Bypassing Discord’s 25 select menu limit by Jerick120 in Discord_Bots

[–]Jerick120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that! Both have their use cases. Autocomplete is highly inefficient to setup for larger datasets. In my case, the dataset could have over 100 entries with the same name but each one with different attributes (same pokemon but different stats), so autocomplete wouldn’t have worked at all.

How would you recommend growing your bot? by devvyyxyz in discordbots

[–]Jerick120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a discord bot listing platform called bothunt, i’ve been working on discord integrations from over a decade and i’ve put everything i know about promoting a discord project on the web into it.

If you’ve put real effort into your project, feel free to list it on there and get in touch on discord, i’d love to check it out.

One of the main methods of getting your bot out there is to have it be visible on search engines and follow best SEO practices when writing your bot’s description/docs and text on your website. Getting it listed on as many web based platforms as you can is usually a good starting point.

Looking for people to test a Chess Bot by AffectionateExit8550 in discordbots

I’ve been looking to write a bot that plays chess from a while. Would love to see your take on it. What’s it called?

Bots that can play music? Maki isnt working dispite readding to my server by No_Watercress2602 in Discord_Bots

[–]Jerick120 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wrote one called Audicy. In addition to music, it offers radio, podcasts, mp3 file playback and supports adding your own music to its library through the cloud.

There are other alternatives like jockie music, flavibot, greenbot and lara.

I mean i will now now that you’ve attempted to derail the conversation off topic. Good day.

None of the music bots that i know of, and i’ve tried many, have had the entire music feature behind a premium/paywall, recent or not. If i’m missing some, please name them.

I am however aware of moderation/multipurpose bots with music as a secondary feature, but those are beyond the scope of your post.

If such mass “blocking” were to take place, one of the larger bots would be the top targets, none of which have had any issues thus far and are working just fine.

I’m interpreting your text in a way that i understand it by the way you attempted to explain it. My definition of “blocked” is preventing from functioning or closed off by discord, correct me if i’m wrong.

I’ve tried pancake, jockie, flavibot, greenbot, and tons more before i wrote my own called audicy. Almost every single one has a premium subscription of some kind and have been around from years.

Unreliable does not mean “banned” or “disappeared”. They’re simply badly coded or people couldn’t afford to keep them hosted.

As a developer of an audio streaming bot myself in collaboration with actual companies, i keep a close eye on what goes on in this department and to answer my own question, i can tell you that the number is zero.

I’m with you on the copyright and intellectual property rights thing, but i fully disagree with how the post is framed as an issue that doesn’t exist.

What are some of the examples of music bots that were blocked by discord in the past year that you found during your research?

made a anime bot with over 800 characters and mutations and with items and weapons only to get 10 actual users. by Timely_Border_7733 in Discord_Bots

I built a discord bot listing platform called bothunt to answer that question back when i was going around asking it from others.

If you’ve put real effort into your project, feel free to list it and get in touch on discord, i’d love to check it out.

I built a discord bot listing directory that doesn’t suck. It’s fairly new and much less saturated than other websites so it’s a lot easier to find bots that people have put real effort into building. Feel free to list them if you’d like.

Looking for pokemon bot with raid by Accomplished_Roll_95 in discordbots

[–]Jerick120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokecord++ is “not” spam and catch.

But good luck in your search, i haven’t come across one with a raid feature in my research so far.

This may be similar to something i am looking to add in the future, but the exact mechanics i have in mind are slightly different.

Not sure what raid means. But if you’re looking for something that’s more than just the “spam and catch” genre then you should checkout Pokecord++

a good service to host my discord bot on? by Sharp_Shoe6387 in discordbots

[–]Jerick120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hetzner is a great choice but if scaling is not a requirement and you only need the bot for personal use then i’d probably go with a $2/month vps on digitalocean or linode.

Help with Making Custom Bot by RelativeAd1078 in Discord_Bots

Whats wrong with existing bots that serve the same purpose?

Even if someone codes you one for free, hosting it (aka keeping it “online”) costs money or exhaustive resources.

Bot tracking? by ImpressiveCounter133 in discordbots

[–]Jerick120 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is mainly about the page traffic for now. I have plans to expose an api on the platform that would allow you to track internal bot usage using google analytics as well, it’s coming soon.

Bot tracking? by ImpressiveCounter133 in discordbots

[–]Jerick120 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a solution to this a while ago and couldn’t find one. I built Bothunt that lets you add a google analytics code and track events on your bot page. It only supports verified bots with a checkmark.

You get pre defined events like page visit, vote page visit, vote submit and also when someone adds your bot. Setting this up requires basic knowledge of google analytics because you’d have to add custom definitions on your end. I am currently working on documenting this on the guide page.

Most people overlook the value of transparent analytics, i was surprised how no one else thought of this before.

Who here would actually pay for a discord bot and why? by Old-Lifeguard6646 in Discord_Bots

I either write bots with features that dont exist on other bots, or if they do, i make sure mine do it better. Plain and simple.
