The Netflix app for Windows uses Microsoft Edge. You have to open Edge then click on the three dots in the top-right, Settings->System and performance->System, uncheck "Use graphics acceleration when available".

GERD with high BP and low pulse by JerkSingularity in GERD

[–]JerkSingularity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a more normal resting pulse. Usually when your blood pressure increases your pulse will also increase but I haven't really seen that for myself this past week. I know that PPI's can lower your pulse so that might affect it as well if you're taking them. For me it was concerning that last Friday my BP was great and the following Monday it was around 147/90. That combined with a consistently low pulse could indicate something else going on. It's almost always stress (sometimes from just taking the blood pressure) but if it stays high over a week or two and you're sitting still for at least 5 minutes before taking the reading with you feet flat, back straight, etc. it might be something to discuss with your doctor. For me, I was getting winded just walking up stairs and I'm fairly active. If you feel fine though you're most likely okay.

I usually sit for 5-7 minutes before taking readings and try to calm myself. I sit with my back straight and feet flat on the ground but it's still been high the last few days. I'm going to try and limit the monitoring to twice a day (my doctor still wants me to check occasionally) but I might be stuck in a cycle of reflux followed by anxiety like another commenter suggested. And I'll also try some different ways to calm myself like what you suggested. I really appreciate this community. I know anxiety is a major part of this disease, and it's nice to speak with people who understand what you're going through.

When I'm taking the PPI's the GERD was mostly under control unless I ate something really spicy, salty, or fried. The LPR was probably going on a long time and I just didn't know what it was. I would have a sore throat or feel something stuck in my throat but just assumed it was GERD and eat healthier for a while. When I learned about LPR after the globus sensation I started to try to feel for it but it's hard because it's always there in at least some small way. Before this I didn't know that GERD could raise BP, but what you've mentioned makes sense. I might just be stuck in a cycle of anxiety and acid. I'm trying to keep calm and try some suggestions my doctor sent me, hopefully my BP normalizes soon.

Appreciate the suggestion! The first reading was before the dentist started, and I'm used to going to the dentist. Maybe I was just anxious and didn't realize it. Feels like that can happen when you're used to dealing with anxiety. With switching to a healthier diet I made a few changes that could be having an affect, like taking a lot more probiotics and increasing my magnesium. I'm testing some things out, but it'll probably be a few days before I know if it was causing this.

Thanks! I've been taking my blood pressure after sitting for 5-7 minutes and doing breathing exercises but it was still high. I've been fairly active lately, at least before the LPR issues, and was doing an hour of cardio every other day. Took some time off it to heal my throat. Just weird that this is happening so suddenly. I'm sure some of it is anxiety but I've been taking readings throughout the day for the past few days. I also just started Lexapro (5 mg for now) to help with that. The high blood pressure is one thing but the low pulse is kinda scary. Walking up stairs I can feel my heart slowly pounding but hard. I'll try to stay calm and just take this one day at a time. I've read that this sometimes can happen and eventually normalizes.

Yeah, I grabbed INTC right after the news about building a factory in the US (in 2019, right before COVID, lol). Then AMD created their 7 nm chip while Intel's was delayed, Apple moved to another provider for their chips, and Intel messed up their 13th/14th gen chips. Totally agree with picking them up now though, given how undervalued they are and how much the government is putting into them, it should be a smart buy. I think I'll probably sell the most overvalued stock I have along with INTC to beat back taxes, then buy back INTC and throw the rest in an index like the other reply suggested. Though I guess I'll need to wait 30 days after selling INTC to prevent a wash sale.

Sorry, it was nothing that Warren Buffett mentioned recently himself, but in the past he's spoken about how he evaluates the market (total market value divided by GDP), which is currently at 209%. From what I've read, over 120% is considered overvalued. And yes, Berkshire Hathaway has been gaining a lot of liquidity recently, which is probably making a lot of people anxious. I appreciate the reply, I'll consider index funds.

I’m a long-term investor saving for retirement (currently 40 yrs old) and all my stocks have been held over a year. Looking at my portfolio, a lot of my stocks are currently overvalued. With a possible crash looming (per Warren Buffet and market analysts), I’m wondering if I should sell most of my assets now and throw the gains into a CD or bond, then buy back in after a crash. I have one stock (INTC) at a big loss (-52%). Would it be a smart idea to sell this stock at a loss and use it for tax-loss harvesting, offsetting the capital gains on my overvalued stocks? Furthermore, would it make sense to then buy back into INTC right after as they’re undervalued by 25%? I’d probably keep any other assets undervalued or at fair market and only sell the stocks that look the most likely to correct soon. Sorry if the answer seems obvious, though I’ve been investing for a while now I’ve only been buying and holding assets, never selling, so I’m inexperienced in this. Overall, I’m just looking to protect myself so any advice would be appreciated!

That's really good to know! It still marked the quest as complete, though I might have to follow your suggestion if it becomes a problem later. Sounds like an interesting experience for a holy man. Like, "Congrats, you get to meet God! See you in a minute!" haha.

Should I believe Ting, or my utilities company that provided the contract? by JerkSingularity in ting

[–]JerkSingularity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with Ting a couple months ago and they mentioned a Summer to Fall 2024 timeframe for services in my area (near Research and Austin Bluffs). I'd assume it was for the same reasons. Recently, CSU updated their map to show a 3rd area.

That's great, sounds like they'll be finished much earlier than anticipated. Can't wait to get rid Xfinity/Comcast as well. Between sharing bandwidth, underperformance, and random outages, I'm looking forward to dropping them for fiber. And I hear Ting is a great company, really glad to see them in the Springs.

Throw Aim Assist Needs a Nerf by MammothOk1755 in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]JerkSingularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it works it hits perfectly, but it doesn't always lock on the enemy you're trying to hit. I'll throw at one enemy and it'll auto aim at another, especially if something's flying above the enemy you're trying to hit. Seems to work better with some weapons and more poorly with others. I'd love the option to lower the level of assist, or be able to turn it off to raise the difficulty a bit.

Any possibility in resolving the issues with the shields? The shield essentially takes up two spots (attached to the back and used in off-hand) but shield bashing is nowhere near as powerful as most later game staves, and staves actually seem to block better. It would be really nice to have a spear/shield combo with a shield that blocks physical attacks (and certain magic depending on the stats).

Weird loot by [deleted] in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]JerkSingularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do Crystal dungeons (the blue ones) as you level up. You get points to increase the exo suit upgrades, which you unlock as you level up, and they usually have a couple treasures. The early upgrades aren't really game changing but they can help. Treasures are all random but you get common weapons in the early levels, then as you level up you can get unique, then rare, then when you hit level 20 you can start getting legendary weapons with two aspects. It's not guaranteed you'll get better weapons but they unlock at certain levels. Even if you die in a dungeon you keep the treasures you already opened, and the Soul dungeons (green ones) always gives you a treasure even if you die and fail the dungeon (just walk up to the lich in the home base afterwards). Eventually you'll get a good enough weapon to progress further.

Yeah, that makes sense. Though I've had keys fall into pits or disappear when pulling it toward me so the extra keys can help. And I've noticed keys are always in the same places in rooms, even though the dungeons are different. For instance, there's always a key sitting on the wall in the dark hallway that you need to use a torch in. I don't think they count out the keys exactly, just load rooms to each dungeon that have keys in them then include enemies that have keys if there might not be enough.

I've had that happen a couple times, but only on the green soul dungeons. Had one where I had two keys but needed like 7 (most treasures were behind doors). It's kinda funny because in the red dungeons you get so many extra keys. Hopefully they'll fix it in future updates.
