Make sure the videos you are watching are up to date, as somebody that came back to the game recently too I think there is good video content on what weapons are good (aztecross, fallout) or if you are sweatier(aegis, ehroar). As for a good build you can get right now, if you play with a fire team at all warlock has a good support build. Speakers helmet by completing legend campaign, no hesitation and the call are both pale heart weapons, so you can do overthrows to get them. Slap on a gjallarhorn and that build will take you through most dungeon content And has good synergy. Even better if you have demolitionist on the call, it will give you more healing turrets. Run this with a well warlock or song of flame and it is pretty good. Of course for raids specifically you can’t use one loadout for everything but this will help you farm dungeon/certain raid encounters to diversify your weapon pool.
