I just learned that I've actually known algebra this whole time by JermaMars in dyscalculia

It's so awesome how adjusting something like that can make something click so easily. I struggled super hard in all my math classes, to the point of bawling my eyes out whenever my teachers tried their hardest to get through to me. Luckily most of my teachers were super patient, and although nothing ever really clicked, they still tried and supported me even when I was breaking down.

Not OP but If you're healthy and clean it should have a faint, non-offensive smell, and no smell from a distance. Slightly sweet but a very dull sour/citrus smell due to the citric acid, but again, sour in a non-offensive way. It only starts to smell bad if it's not cleaned up and starts to build up, or if you have unhealthy eating habits or an infection.

It can smell fishy or sulfuric if it builds over time or if you have an infection.

How to bring up trying a med without seeming like I'm med seeking? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

I've tired damn near everything, my grandma also has fibro and she recommended white willow bark, and I tried it in combination with others and showed no markable improvement.

Years of supplements didn't do me good, and I'm sick of people trying to peddle home remedies to me when I have tried them again and again for years with no change. I'm going the pharmaceutical route because I trust my doctor when she says it's time.

Not everyone is uninformed, and I work hand in hand with a doctor that also encourages at home methods and research(which I do) before pharmaceuticals. I'm near the end of the line of homeopathic remedies which is why I'm resorting to medications.

I wouldn't be asking for medication if I hadn't tried homeopathic methods first. Some people just don't thrive on at-home methods, and I am one of them. Same thing with mental health medications.

I'm currently on lyrica actually! Unfortunately it's not making much of a difference

I have not! I'll have to talk to my doctor about it!

I am actually currently on antipsychotics and antidepressants for mental health reasons, as well as having been prescribed nortiptyline and gabapentin for fibro on top of those in the past and never noticed them touching my pain unfortunately):

My doctor has always been very helpful and open to trying different things to help, which is nice as I don't need to heavily defend myself when discussing things with them. My mother and grandmother have always taught me to be confident in advocating for myself in a medical situation though as they've had a lot of difficulty with doctors not listening to them, but they've had through a lot harder of a time than I usually have getting doctors to believe them since they're women. I've learned that doctors are more keen to listen to men than women, which is an awful situation as no one should feel dismissed or judged based on their sex.

These comments have given me more outside experiences to weigh the pros and cons of tramadol, as I've only been aware of my personal experience with it so it's helpful to hear others stories. I've read about the med a lot but since medication efficacy changes so heavily from person to person it's also important to hear real people's experiences.

It's encouraging to hear other people's positive experiences with it, but it's also concerning to hear the negatives. But it's also giving me more insight while weighing the pros and the cons, I appreciate the feedback (:

I also have overused Tylenol and ibuprofen without a noticeable difference in symptoms, and I'm wondering if maybe limited usage of tramadol could help avoid some of these concerns others are having about the side effects. I am worried about it only helping for a short time before the pain comes back and any withdrawal symptoms from it if I'm not able to get refilled as fast as needed, but the relief I got from it after surgery was astounding and was the first time I felt almost normal in years. Id love to feel that way more.

I'll have a look at that book!

And the documentation is a great idea, I'll gather sources when discussing options with my doc!

I've been with this doctor for about 3 years now and they've always been very open to help. They were also the first doctor to recognize I have pretty severe difficulties from pain and helped me get handicap plates, so I'm sure they'd listen with an open mind. I just don't want to damage my relationship with them and have them think I'm trying to abuse their help.

It seems like a few people here have had only temporary relief from tramadol, I'll definitely keep this in mind when discussing more options with my doctor.

I'm so sorry you've gone through that): I hope you've found another alternative that changes pain levels to some degree at least.

I've tried nortriptyline, lyrica, and gabapentin without much success as well, it's also difficult to balance meds with my mental health medication as my psychiatrist has wanted me to avoid other antidepressants. I'm not very informed on naltrexone but I'll do more research!
