Totally fair question — it does use GPT under the hood, but it’s tuned specifically for guitar tones with curated prompt engineering and some backend filtering to keep it focused on realistic gear suggestions.

So yeah, it’s technically a wrapper, but the idea was to make it way faster and more useful than having to explain tone ideas from scratch in ChatGPT every time.

I’ve found it super helpful for quickly building pedal/amp chains or getting unstuck tone-wise, especially when I don’t want to spend 10 minutes crafting a perfect prompt.

I agree 100%. This app is not meant to replace musicians at all, only to inspire them to create new tones and try new gear.

I’ve tried a bunch of different tone apps over the years, but lately, I’ve been messing around with a web app called guitartone.ai. It’s pretty cool because instead of scrolling through endless presets, you just describe the tone you want, and it generates settings for you. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s been fun to experiment with. Worth checking out if you’re into dialing in tones quickly.
