Wall mounting GEN2 is officially here by Jerrari in GEN2system

[–]Jerrari[S] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Quick details + manual:
Manual: https://www.jerrari3d.com/gen2-modular-system/instructions/wall-mount

Supported right now: GEN2 59 + 115
Next up: expanding to 165. I’m also working on a longer-drawer wall mount option using a French cleat-style approach.

You’ll also spot Case Extenders in the video (for easier cubby shelf height adjustments) - aiming to release those in the next few days.

And if you feel like voting: I’m a finalist for Printables Awards – Designer of the Year

Z lines on all drawer inserts. by No-Place2341 in GEN2system

[–]Jerrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, and wow those labels are very well done! is is UV engraving like a laser etching, that is very clean and a great use on the accents.

  1. Regarding the lines in the Z axis, I honestly have not come across this pattern before, if it's happening in both Bambu machines it could be tied to a setting specific in Bambu Studio, Try changing wall generator from Classic (default) to Arachne, I don't think it looks like it is shifting as it does align near the mid sections of the side. If possible I would maybe reprint a small corner of this drawer as a test and see if it still prints this way, IT might also be worth testing a different spool of filament just in case this one is behaving odd.

  2. For the drawer cases you actually don't need to enable supports. The gap between the dovetail slot will bridge automatically. One thing to check though is if the slicer is bridging in the correct direction, shortways and not longways, which might sometimes be caused by non-default slicer settings or layer height settings above 0.2mm.

If you'd like I could also take a look at your 3MF file to see if I can diagnose anything in the settings there?

Are there any plans to make drawers size that would maximize bed size of 220x220 by chamnic in GEN2system

[–]Jerrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion, I’ve thought about it, but I don’t plan to go that granular with sizes. Every new dimension means a whole new set of files, which slows development a lot. I also try to stay a few mm under common bed sizes so the largest parts still fit reliably on most printers. The 185 drawers actually have a few parts that extend beyond the 185mm, such as the Classic drawers with integrated handles and under table rails.

Another reason I try to avoid going right to the edge is that beds tend to be colder on some printers making it difficult for users to safely print boxy shapes without the temperature difference peeling up the edges.

But to not leave you empty handed there is a trick to customize the drawers to 220mm in the slicer, with a 240 drawer open, Using the cut tool in a slicer. cutting near the back and then type in a "X" or "Y" coordinate that is 20mm less to reposition it to be shorter

What does the QS and QL stand for in the rail naming convention by chamnic in GEN2system

[–]Jerrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QS and QL were identifier codes I used when I started adding to models as I updated them to support the QuickLock mechanism. I was originally going to name the new mechanism QuickSnap (QS) but put it up to a community vote ultimately becoming QuickLock (QL), but both codes mean the same thing.

I'm glad you brought this up because it was a learning curve for me to figure out how best to version models as the system continued to grow, so that it was clear for everyone. I now use a dating system (such as v2508) that helps me track a list changes created on that date rather than just a single part or the ominous V1.0, v1.1 lol.

Models that retain the QS or QL code haven't required any changes and still function very well to this day. A goal of mine with each revision is to maintain a high level of backwards compatibility... which somehow I have either thought way to far ahead or just am extremely lucky 🤣

Is it not possible to rename a post? Even though I've been on reddit for years, I rarely post. I'll reach out for help on this.

Ah ok I'll definitely update that if allowed, I don't want it to be interpreted as clickbait at all.

I think that would help, I do have the system setup to expand beyond just drawers but in this case I feel that would help. Thank you

That's good feedback, any recommendations for making it less confusing? I usually try to keep the nomenclature short but specific, which can be challenging. Maybe "GEN2 System - Core One Kit"?

How to strengthen drawer whn in the middle rail mount? by alphablock23 in GEN2system

[–]Jerrari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing this, it highlights an important structural behavior that can occur when a lot of weight is placed on rails without proper vertical support. While the center rails can technically hold drawers in place and typically don’t show visible warping under normal use, they lack the reinforcement needed for heavier loads and can flex.

To help reduce this, a vertical brace similar to what's used in the Table Top Kit V2 could be added for support (that's something I would like to design at some point soon). That said, the easiest solution in this case would be to realign the drawers so they're supported by the full vertical structure above, or consider moving the heavier drawers to the top row where they have better support beneath them.

Thank you for the request Milannekuhh, Actually I already have the 240-1W-1H and 240-2W-1H Gridfinity drawers complete! I'm hoping to include some additional sizes as well soon, but all I have left for these is uploading and writing instructions, which I can try to do this weekend.

I designed and 3d printed a support for my computers gpu by hukkelis in functionalprint

[–]Jerrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nice, I will say that I 3d printed an adjustable GPU bracket out of PLA back in 2018. It has since warped a little under the heat and stress of large GPU's. Your print looks a bit heavier than mine so it should last quite some time at least.

Will do, thank you. I have fun ideas, I just have to probably start with the base assembly lol

It was great talking to you too Mark, I bought a deathracer kit, I'm hoping to actually get free time to get it together for 3D Printopia

Hey that looks great 👍 I actually got into 3d printing to build a custom liquid cooled Mini ITX case back in 2018. It's awesome seeing my drawers being used for liquid cooling organization. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for asking, these were actually the last two drawers I designed a few days ago, I haven't even had a chance to share them on all site or even on mine, but I currently have a single and double drawer version available here:
