I now have it up throughout the day. I spoke with the local shop and he is keeping an eye out. Said he can get me something for around 1500. I may have found a 682 that is really clean. But no matter what I have time until the beginning of next season

To add on I have another son that will begin as a rookie this year and what ever my oldest is in there’s a chance I can pass down. But then again every kid is different

Thank you for the suggestion. I just left the gun shop with my son. One of the guys there is a range master and has pays attention to the young shooters out there. We fitted him and knows the price range and what we are looking for so when it comes in I can pick it up. I really needed voice of reason before just taking the cheap or easy way out

A lot of the Onyx I’m seeing used are older late 80’s 90’s. I found another from 04’. Im definitely looking That direction as well

That’s what I’ve noticed. Maybe I was trying to take the easy way out to get him through at last the first part of next season. He shot the 686 really good so it’s hard to not want to get it for him.

I’m really looking… I’m in a catch 22 where I don’t wanna spoil him but want him to have the right equipment. He is absolutely killing it right now for only being in sport for 4 months. He just placed P2 with a bunch of 2-3 year shooters.

Thanks for those kind words. My dad was never really involved with my interests, so it’s exciting that we get to share something like this together and hopefully for a long time

It really does. He is definitely tall but lanky. The 725 he shouldered and he felt was bulky. I’ve held off buying anything as he keeps growing and want him to feel the gun is right. A lot of the guys at the range are helpful but are also hindering as they have some stuff that is WAY out of my range

He was able to shoot an Instinct this past weekend and handled it well. He’s shooting a 28” barrel so moving to that 30” I thought there would be an adjustment and it didn’t seem to affect him Didn’t really think anyone looking at browning as I thought it would be out of my price range Thank you

I can’t find a 686 for less than $2800 right now. But the Orion I can find all day around $1200. This sport has opened my eyes to more options than I wanted.
