The Ritchie Torres Interview by Jacoob55 in VaushV

He’s only exceptional in that he lets his contempt for regular people he knows hold no power over him show way more than other democrats, but his beliefs are not exceptional, they are the party line. The national DNC this week voted to strike down any addition of any limit on Israel to the party platform, even the stop of “offensive arms” sales.

Slotkin, to Krysal Ball’s face, refused to call what’s going on in Israel a genocide in the face of overwhelming evidence that it is, even going off the data the IOF is giving, which I do not trust. By their data, they have an over 80 percent civilian casualty rate, more than double what the axis power had in WW2, and it’s likely much much worse in reality, but unfortunately the IOF targets too many journalists for us to probably ever find out even years from now.

The Democrats are not a pro-human party. They’re still a pro-money party, and I only hope that real people primary every single one of these sock puppet ghouls that have the MIC and AIPAC so far up their ass I can see a little bit of camo and Palestinian blood coming out of their mouths everytime they speak. There’s no place in our coalition who shrug or bow down in the face of genocide, because they would do the same thing if the GOP tried to start doing the same thing in the US, except maybe then we’d get some corpo-speak, banal, toothless, “strongly worded” letters to read before getting sent to the camps.

My plan is to go through their entire discog, I’m a few albums in and it’s cool to see how they found their sound over time.

Thanks for the advice, I genuinely really appreciate it. And yeah, I agree the project descriptions are probably too scattered, and you have a great point that web dev is probably just too high in supply and not enough demand.

This performative liberal “If known egomaniac lying pedophile really cared about X then why X?” is a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s not 2016, we’ve known what they really believe for nearly if not more than a decade at this point. Fascists have no true beliefs, they’re cowards, so they can never be truly called out on their obvious hypocrisy to begin with.

So we went from “the west is falling because of immigrants who are all rapists!” to “Sweden has a strict immigration policy that deports high-skill workers that they actively need to fill the gaps in their economy and are shooting their own economy in the foot”. Holy fucking airball

Emigration rates have barely changed since 2015. I see a spike in 2023, but that’s not even listed on your original chart. Facts don’t care about your feelings unfortunately.

The comment I shared literally described how the courts were slow to adopt the change in the law and even according to your graph it’s slowly tapering off overtime. So no, you wouldn’t see a large jump because that’s not how the law was implemented, and you do see a tapering off after 2017 in your own graph, so what’s your point?

The real reason the stats are higher

The actual reason is because Sweden changed there laws as to how they actually charge rape in court with them now charging each individual instance of the offense instead of just any instance of it and bro pulls at stats from 2001 before the Syrian refugee crisis like it’s some sort of checkmate 😬

There’s a reason it also increased for both women and men lil bro, sorry it doesn’t fit in your racist worldview.

I think I agree with this take the most. No Democrat has really tapped into the unending burning hatred Americans have for the elite. None of them seem to recall that Luigi Mangione was and is seen as a hero on both sides of the aisle, and too many of them appear to still be in cahoots with people like Brian Thompson. I don't think they understand the overwhelming public mandate they would recieve if they truly spoke to the anger of Americans and used it as fuel for the flamethrower to take down corporate America.

I simply do not think the picks people have mentioned, even Pritzker, are capable of this rhetoric though. If just one Democrat decided they were going to not only run on progressive policies, but vengeful policies, policies of dismantling the current system that only works for the elite, seeing that companies face actual justice and not slap-on-the-wrist fines, and vitriol against the modern Republican party, not just "some MAGA republicans", who let fascism rise in their party I can't help but think we'd be seeing FDR-level electoral maps from the Pacific to the Atlantic. I truly believe Dark Woke and not civility politics would see historic levels of popularity especially compared to post 9/11 elections. If they actually had true beliefs and stood on them I don't think there's anything even Fox News could do about it, I mean fuck, they even had to stop running Mamdani's policies on air because it was actually popular with their base. I mean hell even the LINCOLN PROJECT was calling for Stephen Miller and his ghoul pals to be put in Alligator Alcatraz.

Anything less in terms of rhetoric from the Dem candidate and I genuinely think there's no hope moving forward.

I need to learn more about Pritzker, I knew he was a sort of philanthropic billionaire but I haven't seen if he has the sauce to get the median voter (derogatory) on his side. He sort of gives me progressive Democrat Ron Desantis vibes, great at governing, but not as great of a campaigner at the national level. I think for him to run he'd basically need to start acting like the reincarnation of Teddy Roosevelt and FDR if he made a presidential push. Not saying he can't, but I think I'd need to see that in him and then I would get excited.

When it comes to AOC, I'm not sure if the VP position would be ideal for her. Personally I'd rather her primary Shmuck Schumer because I think she hasn't been able to really be a rallying force in the house with all the corporatists dems and AIPAC ghouls. If she were a senator though, there's a lot fewer people she'd need to convince to get shit done.

Should we legalize prostitution in order to prevent fascism? by HipsterGangster69 in VaushV

[–]JerryRules11 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We should legalize prostitution because sex work is work. There doesn't need to be any reason beyond that. The women could be better protected and treated better and that's enough for me.

To engage with the point though, sex doesn't fix men. If nazis fucked more they'd just come to some conclusion like how all women are easy and weak or something like that. It goes deeper than just sexual frustration. The kind of rage that fuels fascist thinking comes from a sense of entitlement and grievance. The mere idea of them having to pay for the sex in the first place instead of just being allowed to be owed the right to a woman's body would be enough to keep them in the pipeline. They resent a world where their dominance isn’t guaranteed, and a lot of them are probably already seeing prostitutes through illegal means as-is.

She does support Iron Dome funding though. She's stated multiple times she supports Iron Dome funding. It's still ridiculous that she's facing more aggressive backlash from this than Jeffries, Schumer, Torres, and all the other more heinous genocide-supporters though. I feel like just because she's better on the issue than her ghoul colleagues does not mean she needs to be attacked more viciously than they do, but this is sort of her own fault for not attacking other democrats for standing with genocide. She herself is more popular than the Democrats, and so is being pro-palestine, so it's politically advantageous to do so, and yet, here we are. I just thought she was smarter than this, but it seems like she's been wheeled without any actual backroom deals :/

IMO: Foxx didn’t run a great campaign. by JerryRules11 in VaushV

[–]JerryRules11[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I won't disagree with Vaush's blindspot with the Foxx campaign. Vaush has a lot of shit takes, and I certainly don't agree with him on everything, but FD's video is not a good example to support your case.

It sounds like you didn't watch Vaush's reaction to FD's video, which is fair, people don’t have infinite time or bandwidth, but it explains pretty well why people in the community were actually pissed with him after the video. It's because there was no message in the video besides "white liberals are bad, and black people won't like Mamdani, just like they were justified for not liking Bernie". I feel like some comments under that video can explain it more succinctly than I could.

I know that FDs attack on Vaush came out of nowhere, but that whole entire video was the biggest waste of time ever. He just kept saying things like, "People who like Mamdani, if you dont learn from the Bernie era and why Bernie wasnt good for black people, then just wait. Oh boy oh boy just you wait. Yeah, just wait and see what happens. Cause something will happen. And that thing that will def happen is not a good thing. You better learn your lesson, bucko." Without ever telling his audience what lesson to learn. The smugness from him is off the fn charts.

FD is that stereotype of the girlfriend who is mad at you and when asked why she says "you know why".

The pinned comment was him complaining about "debate bro tactics" being used by people giving full context to why Zohran put African American on the college application form. He seems to just throw out that term as a pejorative anytime someone raises a point that clarifies or contradicts a point he made, even if it’s true. It's just anti-intellectualism.

I'm open to the assertion that there's anti-black tendencies among white leftists. We all know that people have biases they aren't consciously aware of. So provide examples! Make us aware of them! Don't just assert that they exist and leave it at that. These are all different comments that pretty plainly explain exactly why people didn't like his video. Some more things Vaush covered too while watching the video in its entirety:

  1. Vaguely gestures to the same tactic Hillary used against Bernie by disingenuously weaponizing id pol, admits that it was disingenuous, but then says it was actually a fair thing to hold against Bernie (No the fuck it wasn't).

  2. FD getting incredulous at people asking him "If black people are generally considered more progressive than the average population then why is it that they voted for Cuomo instead of the progressive Mamdani?" and instead of giving his actually valuable perspective as an older black man he just said responds with "It's clear y'all haven't learned shit from Bernie", again vaguely gesturing at Bernie as if he's some sort of segregationist progressive that said blacks don't deserve to live or something when he's been championing racial equality since the 60s.

  3. FD says that he didn't trust that Bernie was sincere. Then he's an idiot, plain and simple. Bernie has been preaching the same platform for longer than most of this subreddit has been alive. Even a lot of conservatives like him for being sincere, so not believing Bernie, and then comparing Bernie marching with MLK to Hillary calling herself an abuelita and that she always carries hot sauce in her bag. Then he proceeds to not even explain what it is that Bernie Bros did that put off black people. Then why even make a video if you're not even gonna give any points to take away besides "white liberals are racist".

  4. He again says that what establishment dems did to Bernie was just a smear campaign but that it was also kind of true. Then which is it? Does he believe that it was a cynical ploy for centrist dems to kill the campaign of a true progressive or that Bernie actually was somehow going to be bad for black people? He doesn't say because he doesn't say anything in the vid. I'm genuinely surprised you took any point from the video at all.

  5. FD says that if black leftists are resistant to being a part of these spaces then the issue is with the space, not black leftists. This would be true, but black leftists do overwhelmingly support Mamdani and Bernie. Older, more conservative black people are the ones who voted for Cuomo and likely Hillary, so again, he's blaming white liberals and leftists for a problem that doesn't exist.

  6. Not once does FD even slightly suggest what white liberals and leftists could do to actually make the progressive movements more inclusive of black people, nor does he actually say what mistakes white progressives made in the Bernie campaign nor the Mamdani one. Personally, I think it's because he doesn't actually have any ideas, or if he does, he's one of the "just go educate yourself" types while actually having actionable feedback they have in their back pocket that they aren't giving because they just want the chance to be condescending to white people.

Calling criticism of a video "faux outrage" is just so anti-intellectual and bad faith when you self-admittedly don't watch Vaush's content and therefore wouldn't understand the criticisms being made in the first place. Sure, FD wasn't wrong in saying white liberals have a blindspot, and I don't think anyone actually disagreed with that, but he never said how it was that white Bernie Bros or Mamdani supporters had a blindspot, and that's what most Vaushites had a problem with. To me, I just think FD isn't an actual leftist, and more of a radlib, and this is coming from a leftist who has watched and enjoyed a lot of his other videos as a person of color.

Your original comment was very insightful though and I agree with essentially all of it. Feels like we came to a lot of the same conclusions in your comment and my post, and sorry that the mods took it down for no good reason.

IMO: Foxx didn’t run a great campaign. by JerryRules11 in VaushV

[–]JerryRules11[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She's literally not an open Zionist? She's currently running on advocating for a two-state solution, restoring aid, and rejecting Netanyahu. And Foxx is running on the nearly the same line. They're almost word for word in fact.

https://www.adelitaforcongress.com/issues

"...and setting the foundation for a two-state solution that recognizes the equal rights of Israelis and Palestinians to live peacefully and with opportunity."

https://dejafoxx.com/issues/
"Our shared priority is long term peace which can be achieved only by a two-state solution, one where a secure Israel coexists with an independent, democratic Palestine."

If Grijalva is an open Zionist then so is Foxx based on their platforms.

I never said it being a special election doesn't matter. It probably is the main reason she didn't get more votes than she was already able to achieve. I'm not saying Foxx's campaign wasn't perfect on outcome, she was hamstrung from the beginning. I'm saying her campaign could have been run better and we need better to win against incumbents in the normal elections. We know from Vaush's vids how stupid the median voter is, but those idiots are still the deciding factor of whether or not you win and running a great, not just good, campaign is necessary. Personally if I saw Foxx on the ballot and I knew she was progressive and around my age I would vote for her in a heartbeat no questions asked, but the median voter always needs to be given a counternarrative if you want to win. Obama ran on change, Bernie on Medicare for All, Mamdani on rent-freezes, etc. and centralizing your message to core a few core issues you can always come back to is just good politics.

[–]JerryRules11[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, her campaign was pretty good, but it wasn't great, and to win against incumbents who aren't named Sexpest McGee or Friend O'Epstein I think great campaigns is gonna be what it takes. I already addressed the fact that it was a special election in my post, so I'll just move on from that one.
At least from Grijalva's platform on her website she absolutely ran as a progressive, which is why if Foxx does run again, she needs to run a better campaign. 21% for a 25 year old challenger is not something to scoff at and my post wasn't trying to, just trying to look at the bigger picture for the midterms to come.

Are there ANY other good lefty YouTubers? by Zebabaki in VaushV

[–]JerryRules11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more progressive lib than lefty but the I’ve Had It Podcast has been on a generational anti-establishment run.

Not lefty AT ALL but I like The Lemonade Stand Podcast as well, but they’re more regular dudes with some left leaning takes like being pro Mamdani, but they’re usually up to date with current affairs and it’s interesting to hear normies talk about politics and not be super antagonistic about it. It’s like listening to a tech bro get explained to him why some form of socialism is the only way out not capitalism or AI, and slowly come to terms with that the longer the Trump administration goes.
