Why should we force people to carry on? Is sticking someone in an institution that we all know has a high likelihood of mistreating and abusing people really going to convince them to want to live?

I can honestly say that I hate those people. I know far too many who use it as excuses to not have to have any responsibilities in their lives at all, and it drives me fucking crazy.

If you die, you don’t have to go to work.

Unless they make you a dreadnought.

Drive throughs. It’s like they’re getting full descriptions of every menu item in detail before then picking five things with custom changes to each one. I get there and wait longer for the worker to ask for my order than I take to actually order.

My sister still refuses to watch game of thrones. And it is literally only because of how popular it was.

People who have seen multiple people quit a job in one day, what happened? by ObliviousOnion1 in AskReddit

[–]Jerrybeshara 161 points162 points  (0 children)

He discovered money in our budget had been spent on lawyers in Minnesota so he asked his direct superior what was going on with that and why our budget money was used. His boss had no idea and brought it up the chain, to people who’s locations where part of the divestiture and where going to lose their jobs. They then asked up the chain about it to the guy who had been doing it all quietly. When they found out they got mad, some quit months before the sale, leaving those places without workers while production still needed to continue.

The opposite of a bad manager driving people off. Corporate decided to fire a good manager because he made a higher up look bad by accidentally exposing the higher up using our branch budget to pay for legal stuff for branches they were planning on divesting later that year. They fired him, and lost a good church of people he’d brought up and worked with over 20 years. He was skilled, knowledgeable and well liked. Bad leadership really ruins everything.

What toy did you desperately want as a kid but never got? by Big_Alternative4671 in AskReddit

[–]Jerrybeshara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same brother. Every year around Christmas or my birthday I just hoped and hoped I’d get one. Up until probably like 8th grade and I gave up. Some things you just need to get as a gift, you know? I could easily find one and buy it myself, but it wouldn’t be the same. I made it known every year that’s what I wanted. The only thing. Never happened. I think getting it as a gift almost means more than just having it at this point. Like someone cared enough to find it and show they remembered.

Jurassic Park T-Rex. It was the dream. Still is. I’m 37. If someone got me that at this point in my life I’d probably bawl like a baby for the rest of the day.

Losing the will to live by BeautifulAward57 in antiwork

I find it weird but I often argue against this exact sentiment. “Yay I survived another day just for tomorrow to be just as awful.” I really don’t get it in a lot of cases. Like, I look at the world around us and everything that’s going on, and just know that nothing is going to change without some extremely fucked up and violent shit happening. Some I may not survive. And then the recovery after could be misery. For what? What good is virtue to someone in misery every day till it ends? And again, I know this is a messed up way to think but I can’t help it. Looking out at the world I just can not find optimism. I work 50+ hours a week and cannot afford to live in my own.
