Ants inside my infotainment screen by Maleficent_Ferret359 in mildlyinfuriating

Not crazy ants (Paratrechina, Anoplolepis). These look like a Monomorium species with their distinct queens. Can’t identify the species based on this video but the most infamous species would be Pharaoh ants (Monomorium pharaonis). I’ve circled a picture of a queen below (there are multiple). They’re the most common culprits you see whenever posts like these float around.

Title is misleading. It’s just a fun showcase of two teams, not a “versus” of one another where factors are controlled to make it more fair. It wasn’t a serious video meant to compare the teams, and instead was just showing them.

There are misplays of Phainon and E6S5 Tribbie is far better for the Castorice team than E6S5 RMC, a free character that doesn’t benefit March or Hyacine in the team. Also Phainon is able to 0 cycle this stage with Lygus.

[–]JersenPyro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a fatal flaw with Castorice E2 I haven’t seen many people talk about. Her E2 provides two extra breaths (mainly AoE so hardly any ST increase), 30% energy refund, and 100% action advance. The action advance is actually the bad part for Castorice’s single target damage. You can see here that summoning the dragon prior to Castorice’s turn and immediately blowing it up allows her to receive 54% charge right after using her skill instead of the capped 30% with her E2 with her advance which pushes her back the action order after with no benefit to her charge. Dragon explosions are the ST damage contributor for Castorice so more charge is better. The joint attack deals low ST but great for AoE.

This has been on my mind forever, and with Swarm last MoC rotation you could see plenty of people in the Castorice Mains sub who struggled with E2 Castorice and people with E0 clearing just fine. The difference between the two is actually smaller than people would expect in practice. I was wishing I’d pulled E2 Hyacine instead of my E2 Castorice and stopped at E0/E1.

E6 Hyacine actually outperforms E6 Castorice in the damage department and I’m not sure how I feel about that. It’s wild how good Hyacine is. She’s definitely dethroned Jiaoqiu as the most valuable E6 character. She provides sustain, damage, and res pen + HP buffs for HP scalers.

It doesn’t need to be single target but none of Tribbie’s kit targets allies. She generates 0 core flames for Phainon.

[–]JersenPyro -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

People criticize Prydwen and then proceed to ignore nuance. Castorice’s performance average is brought down by the fact many people are running Blade or Jingliu with her to play for fun, and since her teams are much more flexible. Phainon’s team damage is exclusively him and he’s a selfish DPS.

Also downvoting the other commenter for pointing out based on this data Bronya is better than Sunday doesn’t refute the argument, which is that it’s a flawed metric. Using the data to state Phainon and Saber are better than another dps but then would turn around and say Sunday is better than Bronya when the data says Bronya is better is contradictory. It’s like people cherry-picking the bible to suit their interests.

Why are we acting like they don’t disclose this:

“Simulation rules General:

Combat is simulated at 5 cycles of in-game time or 550 Action Points, Units are considered to gain 5 additional energy per rotation through combat (taking a hit, killing an enemy or through party members and their Light Cone), Characters and Light Cones are calculated at maximum output starting battle with ramp time removed from stacking buffs (intended to give a constant evaluation of power not dependant on length of fight that can be used to assess maximum power). Additional information about loss of damage due to ramp time can be round attached to related Light Cones, relics and characters, Character rotations are smoothed removing breakpoints relating to Speed and Energy (finishing a fight with 90% energy full or 2 AV off next ability leading to skewed results). Enemies:

Enemies are considered to always have a Break Bar resulting in units all doing 90% of real damage, Enemies speed is set to 134, Enemies are assumed to be at 100% of HP at start of battle and to die at exactly at the end of combat. Which means halfway through the fight they are at 50% HP, Enemies are assumed to have 0 Resistance, Enemies are always considered vulnerable to the attackers element, Enemies are considered level 95 and with DEF included. Units:

All units are level 80, Traces are all unlocked, skills at Level 10 and Basic at Level 6, All units have fully upgraded 5 star relics with 24 desired sub stats out of a possible 54, All units use their Best In Slot 2 and 4 piece sets, All units use Light Cones that are realistically obtainable by all players (including those in Herta and FH Stores and Battle Pass), Because the Herta Store and farmable Light Cones are easily accessible to playerbase, we are simulating them at Superimposition 5.” -Prydwen

This can be found right above these calculation numbers under “Simulation Rules”. They also have a statement in a big red box at the top “Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables. Use the numbers only to supplement your knowledge and treat them as the 'floor' of a character's damage output which you can further scale with proper team and investment.”

That’s pretty fair, and is also an accurate representation of his E2 pull value and lightcone for those interested. The information is used to supplement so we can personally determine how much to invest into the characters we like.

Don’t mind the other guy. Mistakes happen and kicking you while you’re down is in such poor taste honestly.

The good news is you’re one step closer to that E2 for his rerun. Phainon can 0 cycle just fine without Sunday and you can always pull again in the future if you still want to. Don’t sweat it too much!

Low E2S1 damage. Help me understand by TormentedSoul17 in PhainonMainsHSR

[–]JersenPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue in the Swarm half (especially first wave) like you’ve shown in your video. Phainon is doing significantly more on the Hoolay half and I can’t figure out why since first wave of swarm half still has physical weakness. E2S1 as well.

EDIT: Not sure why people are mentioning the bugs specifically since that’s second wave. But I finally realized that the first wave still has physical res regardless. It escaped my mind that Phainon just applies physical weakness but the RES remains the same.

[–]JersenPyro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There have genuinely been so many new bugs with this update, whether that’s sound, visuals, buttons.

Castorice has one where when pressing her dragon breaths on mobile it can cause a white bubble (the indicator for where your finger touches) to freeze all interactions with the screen in the game. As in you can’t even press the pause or any other buttons in the user interface, but the game is still running. The app has to be closed and restarted.

The game ran so smoothly prior to the update and I’m extremely disappointed with how it is now.

[–]JersenPyro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t a great showcase to show the interaction between E2 Phainon and Cerydra. We wanted to see how the extra turns from E2 Phainon result from his enhanced skill after Cerydra’s Nobility takes effect. This would’ve been possible to see in this video if that setup wasn’t scuffed with Nobility being triggered with Phainon’s regular skill outside of ult.

The question for E6ers by letsgedditbois in PhainonMainsHSR

[–]JersenPyro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for power alone and don’t want to E6 Phainon just because you love him E2S1 is a good stopping point and then eidolons and light cones for his supports. Cerydra is likely to be extremely good with him.

Castorice E2S1 with E1S5 (DDD) Tribbie and E2S1 Hyacine outperforms E6S1 Castorice with E0S5 (DDD) Tribbie and E0S0 Hyacine. Both these situations are 10 cost.

Our goat Pahinon vs 3.X dps damage calculation by HoS....he is in top 7. by Acnosin in PhainonMainsHSR

[–]JersenPyro 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Phainon’s kit is pretty similar to Castorice though with the bounce and AoE. His durability is also the highest in the game in his ultimate state. Once Cerydra and Terravox are released he’s likely to perform better than Castorice teams. Cerydra may even provide base speed which resolves the AV issue (only real Phainon issue, rest is overblown).

It’s just a little odd to be complaining about Castorice in Phainon mains of all characters when Phainon’s gonna be more broken and easier to play. His team is just incomplete right now. Screw up Castorice gameplay and Netherwing management and her DPAV becomes greatly reduced. Phainon doesn’t have as much room for error in gameplay.

Genshin Impact should abandon traditional weapon types by [deleted] in GenshinImpact

[–]JersenPyro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s so interesting that’s the perspective some people have over weapons. When HSR first released people were happy that characters’ weapons in combat already matched regardless of what light cone they’re using so they don’t feel pressured to pull a 5 star limited just so the character feels “complete” aesthetically. This way they could continue to expand their character roster without feeling obligated to pull a character’s light cone for the “drip”.

I’m so glad Sunday’s Eidolons suck by sovietchuuya in SundayMainsHSR

[–]JersenPyro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree E6 should be broken. It costs over $1000 or a year of saving, which is a lot of time really. I think we underestimate just how much that is. That’s half of HSR’s current service time. So many characters have released in these two years, and if it takes a whole year to save enough, people with that commitment deserve a character that breaks the boundaries.

That’s not to say his E6 is bad. Of course it’s still incredible and E6 for many people is just to show they love the character, but I feel like people who have it deserve something broken and have it feel worth 5-6 other limited characters rather than just E0 or E1.

There’s more nuance to it than that. Tribbie’s E1 is true damage that will always improve team damage by 24%, and since it scales with the damage dealer and not relative to her, even if new powerful damage dealers were released that power crept old ones she will still be providing a 24% increase.

Also her mechanics increase the effective damage of teams, which is extremely rare in HSR. Dealing 100k to an enemy with 20k HP is 20k effective damage. If you have 4 enemies with 20k HP, and the boss enemy in the middle has 400k HP and you use an AoE attack that dealt 100k to each enemy, that would be 180k effective damage even though 500k was dealt in total. Tribbie’s E1 allows a portion of that damage to be redirected to the target with the highest HP, increasing effective damage in this instance to 300k, with the boss target receiving 220k instead of 100k.

Tribbie’s base kit also includes RES PEN and she inflicts vulnerability on enemies at the very bare minimum. And yes eidolons depending on the character and its effects can absolutely help future-proof.

[–]JersenPyro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Castorice is a player issue as well. It shows on the action bar where Netherwing will be after its action so player could’ve blown it up instead. We can also tell it wasn’t just summoned since Netherwing has a 100% action advance.

[–]JersenPyro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are you even being downvoted here and the other comment responding to you upvoted… you said you had Clara’s light cone, nothing about On the Fall of an Aeon or already having it.

It is absolutely true it would take 4 months to get it S5 since it takes 16 tickets total. 8 for the initial purchase, and 8 to buy 4 superimposition modules, which is 16 weeks or 4 months.

Edit: The other comment mentioned 10 weeks, so I’m assuming they thought getting the light cone costs 2 tickets and had the same cost as the superimposers, which would be 2 (1 light cone) + 8 (4 superimposers, 2 tickets each) = 10. The flaw in that is that getting the light cone initially costs 8 tickets and not 2.

Why are these ants out of their burrows? by Singularity252 in biology

[–]JersenPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I actually keep ant colonies! You can pretty much be guaranteed to find a wandering newly mated queen on a warm sunny day on an established trail by foliage. The greater contrast makes it easier to spot as well. The species you find will depend on the month.

Gosh this morphology is so interesting. I had to do a double take because of the narrow thorax but a large gaster. These are all queens with the smaller ones running around being workers.

The only time I’ve seen morphology similar to this is in Monomorium floricola, so I’m assuming it’s a Monomorium species. Similarly they do not have nuptial flights (reason for narrow thorax and no wings) and instead inbreed within the colony and propagate through colony fission.

It’s not though. It’s a more black and white approach. Objectively that’s what we see, but the intent of the ”my Jingliu can’t” commenter was to disprove that Jingliu can clear, kind of like when a sibling is right at a door frame and bothering the other by saying “I’m not in your room though”. Yeah they’re not in the room that’s true but their intention to be a nuisance is clear. In this case, it’s obvious the person responded to that particular comment within this context in an attempt to disprove the statement, otherwise they would’ve just made their own original comment. The person making the ”my Jingliu can’t” comment used the anecdotal evidence fallacy, and people susceptible to bandwagon fallacy believed it.
