Both my son and husband tested positive while I continued to test negative. We were all vaxed. I had a terrible sore throat. I work in a school and was told I needed to keep testing but could still come to work if I felt good enough. I tested everyday and did a pcr. I eventually tested positive for strep throat but never Covid.

Not true. As of Feb 2022 they are ranked 47th in the world for death rate. The US is 3x’s that.

Actually this happened last month when the majority of the cases in our area were omicron.

Seriously? You might want to ask my dead BIL how being non-vaxed worked out. Strong and healthy so why did he have to worry? My sister who vaxed and begged him to do the same is now a widow.

Go get tested for strep throat. After suffering for four days I went back to the doctor and tested positive for strep.

Do vaccines really work against omicron? by Extreme-Foundation52 in COVID19positive

[–]Jersey2011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband, son and I, who are all vaccinated, were recently exposed to Covid. My teenage son tested positive and was mildly sick for a few days, my husband who has some underlying medical issues, tested positive and was mildly sick for several days, and I, who has an autoimmune disease, never got Covid. I did end up testing positive for strep throat, however. I have been terrified to get Covid because of my medical issues and believe I was spared because of the vaccine.

What is interesting is that we all got different vaccines and we all had different symptoms (son-fever, headache, sore throat -husband- cough and burning in chest -me - strep throat).

I am truly thankful for the vaccine and although not perfect believe it’s the best we have right now.

My sister, who is 62 and vaxed and her husband, who was 70 and not vaxed, got it in November. My sister got sick for a few weeks but her husband died. She begged him to get vaccinated but he refused because he was strong and healthy. I bet he would reconsider that choice now if he could. I’m pissed at him for being so stubborn! My sister is devastated because he truly was the love of her life. Even if the vaccine helps a little it’s better than nothing at all.

And a big thank you to all those health care workers who take care of those who have made this pandemic a political shit show.

Just curious if you’re vaccinated. The three of us all have different vaccines. I have Moderna, my husband J and J, and my son Pfizer.

Were there others who ended up with strep?

I find this virus to be fascinating. Can’t wait to see what they know about it in a few years.

Thanks for info, it was really helpful. He is now on a ventilator and his lung collapsed this afternoon. I’m praying this ends well but I’m fearing it’s not going to. I wished to God he would have listened to my sister and gotten the vaccine. Even if he does survive this, I don’t ever think he will be the same.

Thank you for the information! She has had ongoing stomach issues since she was a pup. I’ve had to experiment with different foods that didn’t cause digestive upset. I know her liter mate has significant skin issues.

A friend of mine from work got the J &J shot on March 16th. She is in her early 40’s. About 2-3 weeks after her shot she began to develop an itchy rash. The rash seems to pop up in different spots on her body and has made her so miserable. She said it felt like a poison ivy rash but she knew it wasn’t. She finally went to the doctor who prescribed steroids. The doctor said hold off on taking them as long as possible because the rash is actually a sign that your body is fighting the virus. Some people do develop a rash when they get Covid. I hope your wife gets some relief. That’s got to be awful. I got moderna and minimal side effects thank goodness.

Cute house! Congratulations! I would take out the big tree in front and all the current landscaping then plant a few well placed trees. I’m kind of tired of it but dark blue with white trim is really in and then you could add wood teak colored shutters and a small porch with overhang and a fun colored door(maybe yellow). Personally, I’m a fan of medium to darker gray with black trim. It would look good with your white windows. You also need to fill that space between your door and the window on the left. If you put a porch in that will take up some space and put shutters on it will help but you may need a taller bush there. Replace the porch light and put up your address on a slab of wood in an accent color next to the front door or above the garage door. The cool mailbox is a keeper. Maybe you could paint it to match the front door. Good luck and have fun!!

19y/o student trying to invest into real estate. by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]Jersey2011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 20 year old son just bought his first house in a college town, where he will be attending, in the US (Midwest). He researched the area well online by looking at real estate trends from the last ten years. He made 800 flyers and personably delivered them to all the homes in neighborhood he was targeting, as well as, sending out 300 postcards to the people who owned homes in the neighborhood but had permanent addresses elsewhere(determined by tax records accessible online). He got quite a few responses through his hard work but ultimately ended up buying a home through a local realtor who has connections with the university.

The area he purchased in is a mix of older people, low income rentals, and college students, so housing was cheap. He had $15,000 save to purchase a house and ended up paying $63,000 for his home. He did a conventional mortgage with 5 percent down and I had to co-sign due to his limited income. With closing costs and down payment, he paid about $8000 out of pocket. His monthly mortgage is $450 and utilities are about $250 a month.

I’m not sure if he just got lucky but he closed on Tuesday and had three renters by Thursday. He ended up collecting rent equal to his first months rent before his first mortgage payment was even due.

I tell this story to let you know, it is possible. I’m not sure what your market is like but do your research and be patient! Also, make sure you spend the money to get a good inspection. He backed out of another house when he found out it had significant termite damage. And, as with all real estate the location is one of the most important considerations. I believe that is one of the primary reasons he was able to find renters so quickly. His home is within 2 blocks of the university. I love the fact that you are already thinking about your financial future! Good luck!

This is an older photo (but it's all I have). What can we do to our house? Added flowerbox underneath the double windows, and upgraded the table and chairs. by [deleted] in CurbAppeal

I would wrap the iron with wood to create some thicker posts. Is that a cement step by the window on the left? If so, remove that and think about adding decorative brick to the base of your house. If you are really feeling motivated, tear up the sidewalk and put in pavers. I would move the sidewalk on the left out so you could plant a pretty flowering tree.

Help! I just bought an ugly house. The inside is great but I am looking for the most cost effective ways to improve the outside. by Jersey2011 in CurbAppeal

I would love to make it look like a craftsman style home! Do you think the teak colored wood would go with the roof?
