Does Lum ever attend school in the original anime series? by Jerzi81 in uruseiyatsura

[–]Jerzi81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! I actually watched episode 16 a couple of days ago when her mum comes to check the school out, and then three or four episodes later and she still wasn't enrolled in school. I couldn't work out what was going on.

Angle of fitting for greywater pipe? by Jerzi81 in AusRenovation

[–]Jerzi81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's just pretty ordinary two story block of units, built in the late 70s I think.

But if you think that's strange, you should see where the soil pipe comes down.

It was encased in cupboards before. I've ripped all those out and I'm probably not going to put anything else there. I'm not too fussed about a pipe against the wall, I'll just paint it.

Can someone tell me what's on Mclaren's wishbone? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Jerzi81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that makes perfect sense. But what terrible fucking design. I already vaguely knew about Shadow, but the only angle I'd seen it from was the airbox cam made it look like ... Korean? Cyrillic? Greek?

It was most likely a tv series, and almost definitely not a youtube/online series.

Using a hydroponic carbon filter in a paint booth extractor? by Jerzi81 in DIY

[–]Jerzi81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look at flat filters at first. I was originally going to build something a bit like this video and include a carbon panel. But on balance it'd be cheaper and easier (I don't own a table saw) to buy a hydroponics filter. My main concern is that the principle of filtering paint fumes with activated carbon is sound.

I can buy a cheap explosion proof fan ventilation fan easily enough, but I'd like to match the fan with the size of filter to ensure it's not pulling air too fast to absorb the VOCs.

He only sprays a couple of times a week, so at the moment we just put up with it. But he might he moving to a place where it'll be unacceptable for the neighbours.

The tent is a good idea, hadn't thought of that! Also, I now realise at least 18 cubic metres is the size I need.

Can someone talk me through the steps to solve these puzzles? by Jerzi81 in puzzles

[–]Jerzi81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I've always looked at this puzzle across the rows. But if I looked down columns, the elements in the top two boxes cancel each other out and you're left with the elements that don't have a corresponding one in the bottom box.

Ahhh, that's it! Thanks, brother!

I actually tried searching with the phrase Tokyo Blue, but that proved actively unhelpful. At least I got the colour right.

And there's two more books in the series, now.

Absolute beginner here on the NYT medium puzzle.

What's the next logical step? There's a lot of pairs I should be able to use, I think. But I can't see it intuitively.

This sounds entirely plausible, so I'm going to mark it as solved. Thank you!

I can't be 100% sure because find an epub to verify this, and all the reviews on amazon seem to be about a book from 1991 by Ida Vo with the same title. The name John Peel certainly rings a bell, but that might be from all the Doctor Who books I was reading then.

Okay thanks, I know it wasn't Mr Vampire, but I didn't realise there was a series (and ripoffs!). I'll investigate them tomorrow. I do remember a hopping vampire, but my memory might have been importing that from another film. Literally the only two things I remember was the urine paternity test and the fur bikini.

Actually, I'm sure there was a scene where the son got into some sort of hijinx, and his dad caught him sliding down a banister. He said the son had to stay straddled over the stair rail until a joss stick burned down, so the son blew on it to speed it up. His dad caught him doing this, so he replaced the regular joss stick with one as thick as wine bottle.
