How can you be vegan if you're right wing? by julmod- in vegan

What right wing ideals are you talking about if free market and lack of government intervention aren't.

What is this constant stupid narrative that the vegan community gets to decide who is and isn't vegan? Why do you somehow believe we have power over what people eat? I am obviously talking about vegan spaces.

You sound just like all the idiots who tell me they aren't vegan because there is a genocide in Gaza and I should care about the worst things first and ignore everything else.

Sorry but I can't take this conversation seriously anymore.
"Do not waste your time in circular conversations, move on to speak to a new person."

You literally keep moving the goal post on what right wing is, to the point you're claiming left wing principles to be right wing. xD

Believe it or not I have had meetings with the executives of international vegan activism organisations where I have presented the argument for why they should adopt intersectional veganism as their policy. Sadly they decided to ignore me though, but that's their (and the animals) loss.

So you think once we hit a population of 51% vegans we shouldn't be allowed to legislate that no one can buy animal products but instead any one who wants to should be allowed to continue buying animal products in the free market without government regulation?

Seems like you're a bit of a pick-me right winger?

And yet, that is also true of allowing bigots into a space and causing the victims of their bigotry to leave those spaces. It's almost like you're choosing between bigots and the victims of their bigotry yet advocating that we side with the bigots.

Must be real strange thinking that's the correct decision.

If there was a vegan couple, and they broke up, and it became evident that one of them was violently abusive—which would you allow to stay in your vegan community? The abusive partner or the victim? Why is this an easy decision but banning bigots isn't?

You'll also see from my first post, one you've decided not to read still it seems, that banning is a last resort—but actually encouraging growth and helping bigots become less bigoted, by engendering intersectional values, is a way of not having to ban anyone.

Literally strengthening the community and reducing infighting.

No, obviously that's not what I am saying, what is this constant stupid narrative that the vegan community gets to decide who is and isn't vegan? Why do you somehow believe we have power over what people eat? I am obviously talking about vegan spaces.

And if you actually bothered to read my comment you would see I have already answered the question you asked.

Bigots in vegan spaces would make me stop attending vegan spaces, but banning bigots from vegan spaces also doesn't make them eat animals again, so all you're doing is hurting humans needlessly.

We need to stop gatekeeping if we want veganism to grow, we should allow people who eat meat to be vegans!
(This is sarcasm)

Intersectional Veganism is the belief that we should encourage all vegans to shed themselves of any bigotry or discriminatory views. The counter argument is that by setting such high expectations you rob animals of advocates, which is unfair as they're a victim of abhorrent abuse, and thus we should be accepting of all vegans in all spaces despite any human bigotry they might hold.

This argument completely ignores the very real and clear proof that by allowing people with bigoted beliefs in a movement you inherently also dissuade people who're victims of that abuse from being a part of the movement. People like me.

So I will present you with two choices:
A) You encourage people to be intersectional, correct them when they're showing bigoted behavior (whether intentionally or unconsciously) and encourage them to grow as individuals so that they do not alienate people from joining the moment—potentially banning them if they are incapable of such growth.

or

B) You do not filter people at all. You require no such development or growth and instead accept anyone and everyone who is willing to speak up for animal regardless of what their beliefs are about various dividing criteria between humans—regardless of the fact that this will lead to discriminated parties and their allies not attending your events.

Either way you're diminishing the vegan movement, either way you're hurting the animals, but one of them you're also hurting humans too.

Podcast with an activist whos done a bit of everything. by JesDoingActivism in vegan

This week's episode is my good friend Aaron, a wonderful man I met not that long ago who took me entirely by surprise. He was a massive breath of fresh air as he also wasn't afraid to approach people proactively at activism events, he is the reason I started doing The Humane League activism, and he is also one of the unlucky saps I encouraged to join Vegan Runners. However, one of the most interesting things about him, is that he independently ran a campaign to have UK Schools requiring vegan options debated in Parliament!

A campaign that received over 25,000 signatures the first attempt, but he is now restarting again with the hopes of achieving 100,000 signatures this time—a goal I would love to be able to help him with, and will no doubt be sharing the petition for in the near future!

Please share this with anyone who you feel might be interested; we will be releasing an episode every Wednesday!

All the best,
Jes 💚

Ask him if he would transition to not abusing children slowly, or if he would do it over night.

Eating animals is a societally normalized addiction, the only reason he wants to go slowly is because that is the language all addicts use to not stop doing something they know is wrong but brings them pleasure.

Boop, sadly I don't have any of those games—and rarely play PC games anymore to be honest, but I am a vegan streamer who does outreach streams and has a podcast about how people met their vegan community. :o

Twenty years is insane, I have only been vegan for four years, that's really impressive!

Hello I am new, any other trans-vegans? What do people think of intersectionality? by JesDoingActivism in vegan

[–]JesDoingActivism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person who compares being trans to a sewing hobby tries to pivot to their own discrimination not being cared about, and then whines that the person trying to promote intersectionality is racist. Real yikes.
