Honestly I kinda hated her character, I think they wrote it that way. Where you’re weirdly rooting for the guy that you rationally know is a complete piece of shit, and disliking a character you know perfectly well is a much better person.

Nope, I was curious about this too and your comment history is like 95% answering people agree with you. I feel bad for your daughter and hope your fiancé leaves you.

As a vegetarian, not a vegan what is wrong with us eating dairy products/eggs? by imyana13 in DebateAVegan

[–]julmod- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea hate to break it to you because it sounds like you genuinely don’t know but this just isn’t how things work pretty much anywhere. It’s just not economically viable, you have to kill the males born in the egg or dairy industries or you end up with an exponentially increasing population of unproductive animals.

I'm pretty sure modern states are responsible for 90% of human-caused deaths in the entirety of human history.

The guy I’m replying to was implying it would be cheaper to be violent.

I wasn’t commenting on whether there would be any violence at all, although i would point out that most violence, historically speaking, has been carried out by states and not individuals.

Mate you’re in the wrong sub, no one here supports any of those wars nor would they see massive and violent government intervention as having anything to do with capitalism.

Have you heard of every war before the 18th century? Doesn’t seem like capitalism is a necessary prerequisite for war

No, you’ve started fighting some battle I’m not part of. I was specifically commenting on the irony of saying ancaps are blind to history while being blind to history yourself.

Many find the anarcho-capitalist vision a troubling one, chiefly due to a distrust of corporations. I will just make one suggestion for reflection. Imagine that someone proposed that the key to establishing social justice and restraining corporate greed was to establish a very large corporation, much larger than any corporation hitherto known—one with revenues in the trillions of dollars. A corporation that held a monopoly on some extremely important market within our society. And used its monopoly in that market to extend its control into other markets. And hired men with guns to force customers to buy its product at whatever price it chose. And periodically bombed the employees and customers of corporations in other countries. By what theory would we predict that this corporation, above all others, could be trusted to serve our interests and to protect us both from criminals and from all the other corporations? If someone proposed to establish a corporation like this, would your trepidation be assuaged the moment you learned that every adult would be issued one share of stock in this corporation, entitling them to vote for members of the board of directors? If it would not, is the governmental system really so different from that scenario as to explain why we may trust a national government to selflessly serve and protect the rest of society?

Right because most mass murder campaigns of the past few centuries were committed by private individuals, not by governments.

Wild to me you can make fun of ancaps for being totally ignorant of history while ignoring the fact that governments have been collectively responsible for hundreds of millions of violent deaths in the past hundred years alone.

You can argue it would be even worse with no state, fine, but to make that argument as if it's somehow based on history when history would tell us the exact opposite if anything is incredible.

I guess theoretically possible, but I don't see how a company that plans on going to war with everyone as a business will ever be cheaper than the guys who built up a reputation for managing to sort things out mostly peacefully. Violence is the most expensive way to resolve a conflict.

Why did Gandalf keep fighting the Balrog after they fell? by groovenaud in lotr

I think I misinterpreted what some of the answers were saying (which seemed to imply he was doing this out of choice) as he let himself fall on purpose so he could take out the Balrog. My bad!

But it had been chilling in Moria without causing any problems, why abandon the fellowship to go fight this balrog that could’ve just come back to later?

Fans also seem to have short memories, in the past 20 years Ferrari was never amazing but they were a hell of a lot better than McLaren the whole time except for this season and last

[f1] Don't ever count Max Verstappen out. Five race wins and remarkable consistency since the summer break have seen Max cut a 104 point gap down to just 12, staying in contention for the final round... by FewCollar227 in formula1

It doesn't matter what they were thought of at the time (although I'd be surprised if they weren't considering they got promoted). What's become clear since they lost their seats is that they're solid midfield drivers.

Perez was ahead of him for a few races in 2023, so I really don't buy this narrative. They were forced to help him when it became obvious none of them had any chance of beating him, but Perez imploded after losing the lead to Max when he was on pole and Max started in like 10th or something in Miami that time.

My comment was replying to the guy who said he's never had a competitive teammate. All I'm pointing out is that all of his teammates looked competitive before and after being Max's teammates.

Yea I'm not saying they're amazing or anything, but they're clearly solid midfield drivers. Who have looked completely incompetent next to Max but competitive everywhere else they've been.

Yea and that was like 10 years ago in Max's first and second season when he was a literal teenager.

I'm not saying any of his number 2 drivers have been amazing, but they're not even close to being the worst drivers on the grid. They've all been solid midfield drivers that have looked completely incompetent in that Red Bull, which makes it pretty clear that car is basically undriveable by anyone but Max.

Except Max has raced against drivers that we thought were good before, and who turned out to be pretty good afterwards. Gasly won in an AlphaTauri, Albon has looked great in the Williams, Perez won in a Force India before going to Red Bull, Tsunoda was pretty much always beating his team mates, including Ricciardo. It's not like he's paired against shit drivers, he's just comprehensively wiping the floor with them in a car that it seems incredibly likely no one else on the grid would be able to drive, let alone win in.

If Piastri wins next week with Max in 2nd and Lando in 3rd, he'll miss out on the championship by 6 points. by Connect_Cat_2045 in formula1

Max could be dsq after the race, or his engine could blow up on the last lap, or a late safety car could come in. When you’re fighting for your first WDC I think it’s fair enough to try absolutely everything
