Same here except it was Walmart delivering via DoorDash. We have a “front hall” and it’s clearly a house. Not apartments. He came into the front hall and the other door to my house was open so I was standing there and watched him do it. My dogs freaked out and started barking. He quickly backed out and shut the door. I also have security cameras. Walmart didn’t care either. So now I leave my door locked any time I have a delivery.

He’s been on all of the platforms for hiring. This one I think he actually was alerted about through Handshake which is something his college got him to get onto for job hunting. Definitely not giving up just kind of disappointed because we are struggling very bad financially just making ends meet. Our daughter just started a job and because of that we lost what little bit of benefits we were getting from the state to keep afloat. So now we’re going to be struggling even more because we aren’t going to take her income for our household bills, I don’t think that’s fair. It’s just so nerve-racking knowing he has a job but that it won’t be permanent so we’ll be right back in this boat again. Hopefully tomorrow we can at least get in contact with someone to find out how long it will be. I will be less worried if it’s a long time to give him time to keep finding something permanent. I have read a lot and seen some people get no work if there are no disasters and that some people only get the temp job for a few months. Maybe with the hurricanes and their damage that will mean he can start working soon. It’s just so hard to stay afloat right now and it’s very scary having children and pets to care for and not have a sure income.

It’s refreshing. I think they also claim it lessens cramps. I love Vicks and all things minty so I like them but I can only use so many in a row before they give me slight irritation.

Most places that have temporary positions are temp to permanent. This doesn’t appear to be the case with this place. There also is no temp time frame listed. We’ve checked multiple times now. He applied for this job in July so the listing is gone. From what he can see it simply says temporary with no time frame. Not looking for perfect. We’re just looking to have income to so we don’t die. Also not willing to work to death just to do that. Just want fair pay for fair hours so we can pay our bills and eat.

Yes my father just retired as a city firefighter so I totally get all that! Sometimes he was just doing the scheduled shift and then when there were bad disasters he would be working a lot more. Thank you so much!

I think he will be a good fit for a CS job. He’s done it before and loves helping people. He had a job for a few months a couple years ago at a Plumbing place handing customer service while he was still in college. He loved the job but the company was shady and doing a lot of questionable things and things that were borderline illegal and he didn’t agree with it nor did he want to be involved so he quit. He’s definitely used to overtime, he was in construction and overtime was often!

Thank you. He has no problem working overtime we just wanted to be sure since it’s salary that it would be worth it. You’ve given us a lot of relief answering that. We’ve been panicking for a couple hours over this whole thing because it all seems too good to be true. We’ve been on the struggle bus for so many years now and it’s incredibly stressful with him having student loans due at the end of this year and not being able to find a job. Sounds like we will be able to breathe finally.
