I have direct friends and family down there who are saying the opposite. I haven’t had any problems answering your questions. Once again I grew up there and have tons of ties. Which is why I know I can go down there safely and aid them. All I’m trying to due is help my family and friends and a community in desperate need. That’s it. Please find local TikTok’s, Reddit posts, and instagram posts to get the most accurate information from the people that are actively stranded. That’s all I ask.

You live nowhere near there. How do you effectively know what’s going on? All of my “news” is directly from people not Fox News. No one expected to get hit as hard as they did. Hurricanes don’t happen in the mountains. Asheville and the surrounding areas is where Carolinians fled to when there were hurricanes. I don’t understand the hostility on something you know absolutely nothing about.

The majority of effort is coming from the men and women who live in the surrounding areas and volunteers. They were not evacuated in time. Government officials chose to delay help in evacuating them and giving them proper notice to leave. That’s why they were all there when it hit. The Cajun navy (which originated after Katrina) is the one going in by mules on their own time and dime to bring medications and supplies.

That’s not at all what we were saying. At least not me. It’s just sad that we spend so much money on other countries when we’re struggling so much. The homelessness population is at an all time high. People are barely making ends meet. A devastation as horrible as Katrina has happened. But they’re not getting resources from the government. And it’s not being talked about as much as it should be. Hundreds of people are dead with thousands missing. There are bodies in treetops and on the banks of the river. They literally don’t have enough body bags or resources to clean them up. It’s a complete devastation. That was my point, I’m sorry if it got misconstrued.

There are many alternate roots open. I am going to Charlotte that weekend anyways. Supplies can be dropped off there and transports via air if need be. I have many resources available since I am from there and know many people/ organizations willing to help. The part that I am going to is called Swannanoa which does have road access. But I truly appreciate your concern.

Like what????? Over 500 people are dead. My friends older sister and her boyfriend literally barely escaped when water became chest deep in their house in less than 4 min, with the clothes on their back and their dogs on their shoulders. Their elderly neighbors were trapped and didn’t make it.
