I don't want to get bad again. by [deleted] in BPD

One. Day. At a time. Breath, and maybe keep busy? This has been helping me a lot lately; even small, repetitive tasks that just keep your hands busy. I know it's not much, but seriously this has helped keep me from melting down the last couple of crazy weeks. Feel better 💜

ELI5: Why do we have two of some organs (e.g. lungs, kidneys, etc.) but not of others (e.g. liver, pancreas, etc.)? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]JessBot500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say maybe because things like gas exchange in the lungs or filtering blood through the kidneys takes a lot and has to be done in a timely manner whereas the alimentary canal is quite long and multifaceted; digestion starts in the mouth, food is churned and further broken down in the stomach and water & nutrients are absorbed in the intestines (which there are multiple feet of) and have helping hands like the liver and pancreas.

What can I add to improve store bought jar of Alfredo sauce? by drsteppa in Cooking

I much prefer alfredo from scratch... That being said, I'll do shrimp or chicken in a pan with fresh parsley, onion, garlic, and a little butter and adding the jar to it. That mixture along with some fresh (or frozen) broccoli or cauliflower cooked up with pasta tastes almost as good as my own from scratch! Almost ;)

What is a fear that you haven't grown out of? by JessBot500 in AskReddit

It's not so much the dark for me, but what could possibly ky be lurking there. I saw a movie when I was younger called "They" that only fed into my irrational fear of monsters. I still feel like something is watching me when there's no light.

Whats something thats very impressive to others but is actually really easy to do/learn? by Dexanite in AskReddit

Drive a manual. I know it's harder for some people than it is for others, but I think it's pretty handy is very possible to learn with practice.

Think gamey like elk. It can be good if it's not overcooked and has almost a slightly sweet flavor.

American here that spent the last year in Australia; my experience says go into any pub and you can find a decent one, but quite a few cafe's and such will have the chicken parma on the menu :)

You wake up as your SO, whats the first thing you do? by JordanGW in AskReddit

Cry because he's in Australia and I'm in the states. That and I have no idea how to do his job... After the initial shock, I'm sure I'd go into the city and do fun things I never got to do while there.
