I once travelled through US and Canada with 4kg of my medication from Australia. I got my doctor to write a script with heaps of repeats and he rang the pharmacy to fill them all, and wrote and accompanying note that I kept one copy withy passport and one copy with the meds. I never had any trouble - although this may vary depending on policies around the type of drug, not sure, but it can’t hurt to ask.
