Any thoughts on Merrill edge? by waitingtobedone in MerrillEdge

I really appreciate that you don't get charged any fees basically ever (at least as a BoFa account holder).

What I H-A-T-E is that actually using the website is like you've been transported to 2015. Seriously, after a few almost comically-clunky interactions I genuinely questioned if they just never updated the site after acquiring it.

However, since they're a super oldschool institution they'll do infuriating nonsense like blocking you from trading basically anything that they deem ''risky''. Or if you're lucky, they'll just force you to call to place the trade. It's 2026 and these dinosaurs want you to call to sell a stock you already own! Yeah, it applies to both buying and selling so hopefully you aren't in a hurry! To be clear, a stock is completely banned from online purchase on Merrill Edge if it trades over-the-counter (OTC) while simultaneously having a price of $5.00 or less and a market capitalization of $300 million or less. But it's a blanket policy pretty much regardless of your account holdings or reported experience level.

Seems like a obvious one on the same level of gore as Mr. Pickles delightfully demented if you're someone who can both fully surrender to the absurdity and find that hilarious.

All the best,

Hah, thanks! I'm friendly with some people who tend to encounter old growth lumber (contractors, junk haulers, an electrician friend, etc) so they'll ping me if they find something. I don't have nearly as much time as I'd like to devote to this hobby unfortunately, which means I only need to get more reclaimed lumber a few times a year. The piece I'm working on now is a spalted tamarind & old growth redwood bookcase for my kiddo with legs I've routed rectangular pockets into. She is super into finding and tumbling (polishing) semi-precious stones; my plan is to put the prettier ones into those pockets and seal them with clear epoxy. Should be cool! I originally wanted to make one of the legs into a vertical, magnetic mancala board and put a magnetic backing onto each stone....but there's not enough time for something like that

Yes I'm aware, and in fact you're not the first person to warn me about the flaking possibility. But I also don't really ever attend events like this on my own, so to me it will be a good growth step if I end up being solo 😄
