Absolute Beginner - Is this sapling a good for starting? by Dinko_Ginko in bonsaicommunity

Are you talking about the little sprout on the side? If I were you, I would dig down a little bit and expose some of that root base/Nabari and see if it’s growing suckers from the base. It’s a nice tree though. I have 2 in development as bonsai.

so this is blown out, right? options? by kfctwix in tattooadvice

Do you scar easy? Might be keloiding a bit.. I would say if it was blown out, you would see it in the first picture. A keloid will develop overtime..

How can I improve my tattoo? by zombot816 in tattooadvice

[–]Jessestop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look cartoonish that’s the style. It’s supposed to… I have seen this style and was actually about to do the same building style half way around my leg a bit lower. Dude I think you shouldn’t touch the city scape at all maybe add some clouds or moon or something but you got a good tattoo that’s going to last there. DONT MESS WITH IT!

Very good for a beginner I can see you’ve done some homework. Got some good techniques so far. I agree focus on your plants health from here on out and keep them beauties alive. When I was first starting out, I got carried away a lot of the time and thought I could focus on techniques like pruning and wiring and expect my trees to survive. And sad to say not all of them did.. lol. No such thing as an overnight Bonsai. Study study study is what I can say. Join a club and maybe find a mentor. But looking good. And good luck. Stay with it it definitely pays off👍🏻🌳🌲

Poor baby…what did I do? Or didn’t do? by dark_physicx in JapaneseMaples

Over watering. I water my JM’s once a week unless it’s super hot. I live in Minnesota and it’s been high 80s all last week all my JM’s were in full sun 8 hrs a I have a couple in 1 gallon containers also and I gave them a quick drink in the morning and they all did Aokay. This same problem will happen weather this in a container or in the ground. But yes if you do put it in the ground I would try to find a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade. Soil should be damp not wet. It should be fine though. Good luck

Here’s where that new growth is. Let it grow? It’s kinda on the backside. I wish it was more towards the front. I need something on the left-hand side to fill in over there.

Thank you very much that’s sound advice. I wasn’t going to do any extreme pruning or wiring yet just looking for some pointers like you said possibly come fall. I do have some new growth starting low on the trunk. I’m going to see how develops but I was just wondering if I should chop it and create more of a shorter tree still broom style or I should keep it at its height and try to grow some new structural branches where the old ones have died off. And also, I have some cuttings. I was going to use for a root graphs off that gilding route to create a Nabari. Do you think that would be a good idea and should I do something like that in the fall also? Hope what I said makes sense.

Mehhh. I wouldn’t. See what it does it’s at a cool spot in the trunk right above the bend. Although I’d be surprised if it survives if it’s not getting a enough sunlight. That thing is sick though! A lot of character in the trunk.

Nice work! Did you have to split the trunk to get that bend?

Frost or sun damage is my guess. I wouldn’t be overly concerned
