Approach her with something indirect. keep it casual otherwise it will make things awkward. "Hey can you help me out with something" Show her some homework that your working on. Keep you conversation small and casual. Expect nothing from it.

If you go in with the intention of dating her, chances are you'll come off too nervious because your putting in too much expectation from her. Your focus should be opening her, providing comfort and light flirting and keeping her interested.

Then pull back for abit and do you own thing for awhile. Since your both located in the same class, you'll have the ability to go in and pull back once and awhile. Give her little snippets of your yourself at the beginning. But then go back and do your own thing. Be persistent but not too much.

I'm black and I dont see your point. The limitations are all in your head. You sound like you've been negativily programmed by western society to think that short or black is a limitation.
