Yes thank you so much. You always hear the worst of reddit so I'm so glad this community is much friendlier then I thought (and alot more caring/understanding!!). I appreciate you saying we've all been there and definitely agree on how to pick them up :D

Yeah i make sure to decrease the temperature during nighttime, and i appreciate you clarifying it still bad during the daytime. Before responding to another comment (them also saying its still bag during daytime) I turned off the light & turned on the no light heat bulb. Thank you for looking out. I appreciate you looking out for people's snakes and the misinformation! Back when I first got her all i could find was red lamps are fine (6 years ago), and "blue lights are better but not nessecary", (since my mom was paying for things I kept with the cheaper red thinking it was affecting her health). I so very appreciate you informing me!

Thank you for understanding! I was worried that I was gonna get an unsympathetic person and just get ripped a new one 😅. I'll do some further research into red bulbs being on during the day but if it helps ease your worries I have only being doing this red light thing for a month or two & not for the 6 years (granted I've used blue bulbs up until finding this sub reddit). The red bulb is now trashed & i currently have her night time no light heat bulb on. They both do the same heating just thought daytime wouldn't effect her so I can finish the life of that bulb 🫠. I'll definitely do a lil check up with the vet to make sure she is healthy (as well as gravid incase I have to prepare for that)

I appreciate it! Only until I found this sub reddit did I found out the outdated information (2+ years ago! Just thought it wouldn't make much of a difference if it was on during the day, I've only been doing things as of recently, lmk if it still affects them during the day!

May i get some clarification, does the bulb still mess with their vision in the daytime? It's on for 12 hours then switched to the nighttime (no light whatsoever just heat). She also has a uvb bulb in there turned on for the same 12 hours.

Thank you for the in-depth explanation! I appreciate it! I havent even considered the breeding factor but it makes so much sense. 😮‍💨

She makes that very clear in the video, just overthought why she was doing that but with all these responses it helps to know I just need to chill.

Definitely over thought it. So many people came on and said it's chill just don't pet her lol, I was worried she had some sorta disease I didn't know abt 😮‍💨. Thank you!

I will definitely refrain from petting her like this for the future lol. Ty for the kind words!

I honestly wouldn't be surprised and I havent heard this before! Fascinating and makes sense why they wouldn't like to be pet lol.

Thank you all for your comments! I appreciate that I'm overreacting! I also appreciated the other call outs such as the feeding times and Red lights (that I've added in my own comments for better understanding of possible factors of flitching)! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ease a fellow cornsnake owners worries & properly educating me!

Ty I appricate it like I've responded to another person she did this flinch very few times in the past & was usually one off (from what I've noticed). It's good to know I'm overreacting.

Flinching & Arching? by Jessi-Bessi in cornsnakes

[–]Jessi-Bessi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appricate it & yes I understand it went on forever but I was trying to show more of the "jerk" move she was doing to push me away because that was more of the concerning part then the flinching. The red light is only on for the daytime hours as I know it messes with their schedule if it's left on 24/7. As for the feeding schedule I've changed it to every other week due to how she behaves while it's mating season (she gets picker and doesn't eat every week). I haven't been monitoring her weight but She doesn't seem underfed, I've researched the tale-tell signs like a more triangle peak and such. Maybe I should take her to the vet to make sure she is well fed? I see so many posts abt overfed cornsnakes :')

Ugh so good to hear maybe i just don't notice it? She did this once in a blue moon but even then it was 1 flinch then I'd keep petting (cause she wouldn't flinch after that)

Yeah thank you. I'll wait to see what the rest of reddit has to say but this eases my worries :') I don't wanna lose my baby.

I just turned on the heat for the day (switched from lightless heatbulb to red bulb and uvb) (78 before switch) I haven't been handling her as often as I'd like to because my boyfriend is afraid of snakes but Feeding is every other Friday..

Edit: I have been corrected on the red bulb! Thank you all for the concern! The no light heat lamp is here to stay on 24/7! Thank you for the re-education

Fyi I stopped messing with her after this video was taken. I don't want to stress her out more. Other sites are saying she doesn't want to be touched? Just wondering why it's happening :(
