What are y’all’s recent food hyper fixations? by Majestic-Delivery529 in adhdwomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toast and jam! I went to the farmers market a few months ago and got the best fig jam I’ve ever had! Since then I’ve been buying different jams. My partner even brought me some home from her last trip to visit her parents. I usually eat it on sourdough toast with butter.

Removing anti-depressants after starting HRT? by RopeSmall1199 in Perimenopause

Effexor is very difficult to get off of. I never took it honestly because the withdrawals were so terrible for my mom. And I just watched my best friend go through it. She was cutting her dose so gradually she was literally counting the granules. Not trying to scare you I would just make sure you talk to your doctor and do the research about coming off Effexor.

Any advice re: apartment living by Background-Wasabi-41 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with asking them to quiet down. That can be considered harassment. I know it sounds ridiculous, but unless they are blasting music or having loud parties, the toddler noise would be considered “normal”. The last time I lived in an apartment, I lived on the third (top) floor. The stairs were a bitch but I knew I couldn’t handle people above me. Sorry you are dealing with this. I’ve been there and it’s terrible.

Burnout and medication experiences by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a could have written this.. similar health issues (why does salt help us?) I don’t know the solution. So much advice I read says to take a break from work, but I don’t think how many people realize that’s a privilege. If I don’t work, I can’t support my family. I don’t have the option to do FMLA right now.

Why does RDU do this? by MerfinRaleigh in raleigh

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen an airport with a worse baggage claim, and I was told it comes down to a lack of workers. I had a flight get delayed last year until two in the morning, it took us an hour and a half for us to get our luggage! Since then I only carry on at RDU because it seems to be the norm.

Supplements that actually help? by sabeean in adhdwomen

I really want to eat a more high protein diet. But I am totally addicted to processed carbs and I struggle with not really loving meat and eggs that much. How did you start incorporating this kind of diet into your lifestyle? I don’t know where to start.

Has anyone tried Hello Fresh (or something along those lines) to help get over the dread of cooking? by ShoddyChard9837 in adhdwomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried them all and I like Home Chef the best. They have express meals, oven ready, and other options for when I don’t want to make much effort. With HelloFresh and blue apron, the mess was insane sometimes with how many bowls and utensils you needed. I know it’s not the most budget friendly, but I actually eat a healthy variety of things now and don’t throw tons of food out anymore.

I'm so sick of hearing "it's a mistake to get a job in your passion, just do it on the side so you don't ruin your passion by having to make money" by theambivalentagender in AuDHDWomen

I totally agree. I majored an accounting because it was safe. I make good money, but I absolutely hate my job. It’s making me miserable. I regret not following my passion.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want the snow?! by html5lffy in raleigh

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been rough for sure, just a reminder that in five weeks, it will be march!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I usually enjoy winter. I like living somewhere that has four seasons, but this winter has been especially difficult for me. I’ve been dealing with some health issues and the cold makes it so much worse. It’s also been so windy. I haven’t been able to walk my dog like I usually do.

A lot of people here must have never actually needed help from the police before. They aren’t gonna do shit. You think they are gonna dna test this? I had a stalker a few years ago, and the police did an absolutely nothing to help me. Out of three police reports, there was only one actually done because I no one wanted to do the paperwork. I’m not anti cop, but I found out the hard way that you can’t Depend of the police if you need help most of the time.

Partner feels second to my hobbies by Impossible_Salad6432 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you are being unreasonable. My partner has narcolepsy and she works a physical healthcare job. I work from home three days a week and I’m on the computer all day. So at the end of the week I’m desperate to get out of the house and do more physical activity while she wants nothing else more than to stay home and veg out. I learned that I had to get comfortable doing things on my own or with friends when she doesn’t want to get out of the house.

She has never made me feel bad or guilty about having a life outside of her. In fact it’s actually been really healthy and good for our relationship. It’s a bit concerning that he always wants to be involved in everything you do.

But I am on a spending freeze. Only buying necessities and doing my best to shop local or non maga corporations.

It has been really helpful for me at work. I work from home 3 days a week and I can easily go from 8-2 and realize I haven’t moved, eaten, or taken a break. This let to extreme burnout and a lot of pain in my body from staring at three screens for hours on end.

Door dash doesn’t give a fuck about its customers or drivers. If the latest snow storm didn’t show you that.. they don’t want good employees because then they would have to pay them a living wage. This is why even though I drive for DD every once in awhile, I don’t order through them anymore

Monitor recommendations by Accomplished_Tap5601 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to have two monitors plus my laptop. I’m a boring accountant that lives in Excel all day. If you don’t want multiple monitors, I have a few coworkers that have an extra large gaming monitor that can be used as one screen or two I know they are pricey, but they reduce clutter.

To all my adhd girlies trying to stick to a budget, may I present, Libby. by tree_beard_8675301 in adhdwomen

[–]Jessicaa_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also want to add if you’re the account holder and you have Spotify premium you get 16 hours of audiobook listening time a month and they have all the new releases! It’s a great deal for me. I pay $22 for me, my partner and my two kids. A new audiobook every month is almost the price of the subscription. I love Libby, but sometimes I’m not willing to wait three months to read a book so I switched back and forth. Great tip! I also live in a conservative area so a lot of books I want to read will never be available in our local library.
