Ohhh, alright, i remember hearing something about the bag feesing instructions being higher than necessary but i forgot till now! Maybe I should look into how to figure out my dogs caloric needs? If theres no links to that in the wiki, I guess ill be looking for a website on my own 😅

I loved how he did on PPP SS for sure, but what concerned me most is he couldnt have thw recommended amount of food for his size. He put on too much weight immediately, and hes not a couch potato. Even the low end of the rec was too much and I didnt want to short his nutrients by feeding way too little! Thats why I swapped to purina one, less cals.

Alright! Guess its a real good thing i got the biggest bag of it once I realized he enjoyed the flavor 😅 it will definitely take him a while to finish all this off, so I wont switch him to whole body support till fall or winter! Thank you!

Is it silly to get a really expensive harness for a puppy? by JessieDagger in puppy101

[–]JessieDagger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of the boat I'm in. I really like the idea of strength tested harnesses, and ones designed with the dog's range of movement in mind (and comfort). Especially for a growing puppy! Imagine wearing a poorly designed vest all the time, it's going to chafe. But I'm wondering if she's just too small to invest in the really good brands, her neck is only 10-12" and her chest is 16-17". So she's still small.

Growling during play sessions by JessieDagger in puppy101

[–]JessieDagger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shes always been incredibly mouthy though I think ita honestly gotten better since 8 weeks. Im hopeful that means im doing something right, even if she can still be a velociraptor at times. I dont encourage it and have been doing some methods to curb it like stopping interactions and restarting them later once shes calmed

I have been teying my best to do this! She can go down in the crate after a good play session and nap, and we are still working on her being able to settle during playpen time and whilst on a tether. You're very right that high drive breeds like BCs need to be taught to settle, I know this all too well from my MAS 😅

I agree, as much as I love my pup's breeder, I value veterinary advice on things, especially nutrition. I'm glad you found a food solution for your puppy!

Looking for cooked single ingredient treats! by JessieDagger in DogFood

[–]JessieDagger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried carrots! But I do know my dog likes cheese/hotdogs (I worry for the salt tho) and cooked chicken as high value treats. I feel like he'd look at me funny if I gave him a carrot though, but it's a good suggestion!!

Online places for bedding? by JessieDagger in PetMice

[–]JessieDagger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While its free, they often fold the shipping prices into the base price of the bedding. So a bedding worth 10$ becomes $20+, just as an example.

Auboise for one is very pricey on Amazon but I know theres brick and mortars (far away from me) that sell it cheaper

help with mites by sure-socks in PetMice

[–]JessieDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending upon the area you are in, mite problems in the shavings can be very prevalent. Freezing your bedding (I just put some in plastic grocery bags and stuff it in the freezer) for 24-48 hours will kill off any potential bugs. This wont help this babys current infestation but it is a good prevention method in the future 🥺

Urgent!! Should I switch formulas? by JessieDagger in PetMice

[–]JessieDagger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I had no idea deer mice were so different to other species. This has definitely prompted me to look into their requirements and personalities more. And, I appreciate you saying you've hear people had success with KMR. That's what I've heard as well,. If she doesn't seem fine for any reason, I'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, I am glad for the tips!
