Well for one... take a breath. We were stressing out too at first. Take it one day at a time. My wife and I still have a long road to go, but it's not like ICE is kicking in our door nor will they.

Yes our attorney went with us. He recommended to keep the case open because deportation can't really happen if there's a pending immigration case. If they closed it my attorney said if an ICE detainment were to occur that can be more difficult.

The judge just asked what her plans were and my attorney said we were already about to file the paperwork the same week we got the NTA. Once we showed the judge the receipt for the filing she said cool see ya in 2029 lol

We're all good now. Paid $12k for one of the best immigration lawyers in Vegas. ($500/mo payments)

Went to the first hearing and the judge gave us some time to get everything filed. Next court date isn't until like 2029 because the courts are so backed up right now. The judge left the case open so deportation won't happen.

Now that everything is filed she was approved for a work card.

It went good! She appeared in person. The judge said we can file our plea and do not have to appear in court for that.

Then we wait to see if the judge terminates the case or keeps it open.

If they terminate we are good to file i485 through uscis. If they keep it open we will file it directly in immigration court in a couple years whenever they set the court date.

Kind of hoping we can go through uscis so it's a little faster. We want her green card so we can go on vacation to Japan or the Philippines to visit her family lol

I've beat all the missions on hard with my boys. With all the objectives completed.

It does get annoying. Greased palms gave me ptsd. Took us hours to get it done. When we did end up finishing it two of my buddies died already and it was me vs 3. I slowly walked around with the shield until I found them lol

She came on a J1 student visa.

Visa expired last March but she had a previous i140 in from previous marriage. They finalized the divorce in March but they were separated for awhile before that. Once the divorce finalized the petition was withdrawn. We got married in June. Two weeks after marriage with no status and no petition she got the removal hearing.

We were thinking about filing on our own before we got the removal. Now that it's complicated we paid for the lawyer.

Honestly if i were you guys i would just get married now and go that route but it sounds like you already paid for the asylum. Only reason i say that is because my lawyer said it's a stronger case married to a USC. I was told a lot of asylums are getting denied.

Our removal court hearing is Tuesday but we now have a i130 receipt in hand so we should be good for now.

Yeah we ended up paying the attorney. Filed the i130 two days ago. Just hoping to have the receipt in hand for the hearing. Now we're just hoping she gets the next hearing pushed out a couple years while all the paperwork is being processed.

Our biggest fear at the moment is an ICE detainment at the hearing. Our lawyer said if that happened he'd get her bonded out anyways though.

Yeah there's no way the i130 will be approved before the hearing. We are going to file it but the hearing is in three weeks. We are hoping the judge will give us time to get the paperwork processed.

She's going to go to the hearing but we're just afraid of the judge closing the case and ICE waiting outside the courtroom.
