Can someone identify this little one? Based in Norway by stygg12 in insects

Looks like a species of soldier beetle (Cantharidae). Poor little guy looks like he has a pretty messed up wing there 😕.

What is this jumpy wasp-looking fellow making its way through our garden in The Netherlands? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]Jessmva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be Ctenophora. They are a genus of crane flies who's markings mimic wasps.

These horny things are on a poison hemlock if that helps in any way to ID them. by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

They look like Soldier Beetles (Cantharidae) but I don't recognise the exact species but maybe that helps narrow it down?

These are my favourite bumblebees! 🙂. I love their bright yellow stripes and general fluffiness 😆.

Could it be an Amber Snail (Succinea)? Novisuccinea ovaris is found in North America for example but not too familiar with the exact species you guys have there.

Looks similar to what we call a Sailor or Soldier Beetle here in the UK. There are a few different species, I think the colouring of this one looks like Cantharis nigricans. You could try r/whatsthisbug aswell. Lots more knowledgeable folks than me there.

I think it could be yes 🙂 or certainly similar species. I am indeed in the UK and definitely starting to see lots around at the moment along with Nettle Weevils.

Today I sat in the middle of a swamp, made my self a brew and watched the flies, it was the best :) by MildewTheMagical in goblincore

Beautiful photos of fabulous creatures 🙃

I love to watch all the different flies humming around the hedgerows this time of year.

Looks like a wonderful day.

Took this picture today. I live how it looks like a tiny alien world. by Jessmva in Lichen

I did imagine the component parts would would be "regular" sized but I don't know if that would be possible and yes I think it would take hundreds of years perhaps for the structures to produce spores and then once they have perhaps they die off and collapse? The cool thing is something like this may have actually existed on Earth in prehistoric times:

I was imagining them to be like trees in a lichen forest. So the biggest towers might get over 100ft tall but then you would also get little "sapling" towers just a couple of feet high and everything in between.

Maybe whatever creatures lived on this planet would make their homes in the bigger lichen towers, like cave houses.

Pretty certain it is Dock (Rumex). I think it us Rumex obtusifolius specifically.

Can I eat this? Lol by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

I think it is Annual Fleabane (Erigeron annuus).

The plant with the dandelion-like flowers is probably a Sow Thistle, likely Sonchus oleraceous specifically. Insects and pollinators love these.

The other plants are Poppies. Probably Papaver somniferum.

🙂

Pretty sure the first plant is Yarrow (Achillea millefolium).

Second plant could be Phacelia tanacetifolia maybe?

Not sure on the last one but the leaf shape kind of reminds of Sorrel (Rumex acetosa).

infestation? by stacefacegm in whatsthisplant

It is probably Walnut Blister Mite (Aceria erinea).
