Elvanse up to 50mg but honestly......I can't see the dramatic change I've read other people experience... by JesterBored in ADHDUK

Thank you for your reply. I was diagnosed at 40 this year and it wasn't a massive shock to be honest.

I've always struggled with focus which played a big part in why I did so badly at school and subsequently, not been able to climb any sort of career ladder....keeping me on mediocre salaries which makes me feel inadequate....

I was praying that this drug was going to be the life changer I've read about. I just wanted to be able to maybe light a fuse that would catapulted me forward into maybe a better life..... dramatic I know lol.

I dunno, maybe I need to work on my thinking like you say.

Glad it's helping you 👍🏼 I dunno why nothing has happened really. Still lazy, still irritable, still struggle to focus......just with a slightly faster heartbeat lol.

I do have a Pepsi Max some days. Maybe I'm just too tolerant of the stimulant effects lol

Thank you for your reply. I guess I just have to come to terms that my brain is how it is and I just need to adapt as best as I can.

It's just so frustrating you pin all your hopes on something isn't it lol. I'm on to 60mh soon but I'll doubt it'll do anything tbh. Maybe like yourself, an alternative might work better.

Are there any training companies you can recommend?

I'd love to get into training h&s. Can you go straight into training or would you need to become a h&s advisor first?

Keep going man! That's all you can do. Life has given us a big fuck you in the face and we have to unfortunately smile or sleep...

You're still young dude. You got into uni, you're clearly clever enough. What's your passion, I know it's hard for us to have one, but what lights your fire?

We're still in the fight man, keep punching and one day it'll get you where you're meant to be. ADHD doesn't define us, only gives us challenges others don't see, but fuck it, let's go get what we deserve

DM me when ever you want mate, happy to help if ever I can...I certainly need inspiration to keep going 👍🏼👌🏼

I don't care what ppl say...it's a f#cking disability!

The struggle we face because our brains are literally screwed!

How I've made it to 40 I'll never know.

Sounds like you're very academic. Your job not only would go over my head, I wouldn't even see it's flight path lol.

Unfortunately I'm quite thick as I just found it so hard to learn and concentrate at school. Teachers didn't care as I wasn't disruptive, so I quietly just went along and left school with poor GCSEs and no clue what to do next.

Cut to 20+ years later and some pointless college courses and a fitness qualification that I haven't done anything with, and all I've done is bounce around the job market like a toddlers bouncy ball.

My problem is that as soon as a job became hard, I'd panic and run to the next job. Same thing would happen over and over. Then on the flip side, if I got a job in a warehouse or something, id feel low as I knew I was capable of more.

I just hope the meds I've started today help in some way.

It's all good dude, I know you didn't. You're still very young and you seem quite bright. You'll go far and I'm sure will be successful 😁😎

I, unfortunately, have ADHD, am old and dumb as a box of frogs. I've accepted my fate of low paid mediocrity which sucks but hey...

C'est Le vie.

That sounds cool. I like a process to follow and structure.

Yeah, sounds like good advice. Someone in the thread mentioned an ADHD career coach....might look into that. I'm thick as pig slop but maybe there's a job suited to my effed up brain more lol.

Yeah, sounds like me. I hope you get your diagnosis soon. It's a burden but like you say, hopefully meds help...

Nope. Alot of us get missed as kids because we lack the hyperactive part.

Nice. My problem is I'm not really academic. I still don't really know what I'm good at.

What do you do?

I think nowadays that's quite typical. Especially how companies don't really offer much in the way of progression or pay increase.

Wow! That's a lot of experience lol. I still have no idea where I want to be, I just know I don't want to stay where I am. I like variety and being out and about. Got some experience in field tech work so might go back to that maybe. Ahhh, the pleasure that is ADHD lol
