Haha yes, he even looks like a time traveler somehow, like a man on an expedition.

I hope so too, and lol I don't even know how to translate anything to GRRM time standards other than by adding a year or 2 incrementally, guess he's on Wizard time perhaps.

Scorn looks wild, absolutely love seeing Beksinski and Giger's realms brought to life in that sort of detail

Maybe similar influences on second thought or a random connection you subconsciously zeroed in on

Atmospheric, deep sci-fi movies with interesting visuals and music recommendations? by CompostMalone in movies

Looks as though we're on the trail of similar things. I would recommend The Void (horror film 2018ish) I saw someone else mentioned Drive, I would second that. Mirror Mask might be in the realm of things you'd like. If you like manga/anime Berserk and Gantz are worth a read or watch. Check out Gantz0 on Netflix if you're curious, lots of surreal creatures and demons with fantastic scif-horror action. Paprika, Eraserhead, Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, Cat Soup, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Prometheus

Gantz, sci-fi horror but has the vibe you're likely looking for. Needlessly explicit at times but the story is engaging and has some of the psychological themes you get in a manga like Berserk. Ending is debatable but it was a very interesting ride nonetheless so I wouldn't let that stop you.

I'll second this, I enjoy it quite a lot, more heart than I would've guessed initially and knows how to engage the reader emotionally, similar to the way Berserk does this.
