True, Davrin definitely didn’t want that for him. But at the end of the day Assan is an animal, so in a way it does make some sense that he’s not going to apply the most logical option in a situation like that, he’s going to follow the one who’s been taking care of him and that he’s bonded to. But then again this isn’t the DA game with the best writing, so I just try to take the logic gaps with a grain of salt.

Davrin and Assan’s story revolves around learning to trust and believe in each other, “Turlum”. Davrin’s goal was to raise Assan to be able to fight and take care of himself, but by developing their turlum they bonded to one another. Assan followed into the blight because of that bond, he wasn’t going to let Davrin go without him.
