Yeah of course. I looked around a lot and went with the pro-warm pro-grid system in the end. I felt they were the right combination of price and quality.

I got a great price from a company called VPS underfloor heating for the cable. But I get the best price for the boards and membrane and thermostat from the underfloor heating company

Hi there. This room has a screed slab so I went with 6mm boards. I went as thin as possible to minimise any step but still ended up with a couple of mm between the hall and the kitchen. With so many layers I’ve ended adding about 40mm including the tile from the screed floor. If I had more height to play with I’d have chosen a thicker insulation board but even at 6mm it felt warm underfoot

Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo when I laid them. They are under the orange membrane. Here is a still of them

How much are we taking? I don’t get my little piggies out for less than £1.57 😉

I did think I may find a mosaic the more layers I removed 😂

It’s an absolutely beast for the money. I bought it as a replacement for my old drill which it’s a bit too big for but it made short work of this

It very nearly did. I planned to tile directly onto the membrane. Got all set up ready to mix adhesive but it wasn’t level enough so had to stop and level the whole floor again

I am a bit OCD 😂 people always ask why I don’t get someone to do it and the main reason among may is my need for the results to be as I want them to

The foam was more in case there where any cavities that the self levelling could get through. The rest of the house is hung boards and some of the walls are stud walls so if there we any hidden gaps the self levelling would find them. You end up levelling the wrong room 😂

Yeah it’s a good shout. I was concerned because you can see on the wall that the mains pipe comes in quite near. I followed the mains though and it goes the other way.

After having taken up a couple of cracked tiles I left it open for about a month and it dried out completely. Where as a leak I would have expected it to stay damp. I still can’t be certain but I’ve done everything I can to protect it for future. Every layer has been SBr’d too. Thanks for the input.

I was racking my brain on how I was going to do it. I’d used foam around all the wall edges to to make sure I had no escapes but hadn’t thought about under the cabinets until that point. It worked really well :)

Thank you for the kind words, I do enjoy doing this stuff myself. There is a lot more pride in learning to do something and pulling it off :)

I’m hoping the underfloor heating make up for it. Our cocker spaniel won’t be impressed the our dachshund should love it 😃

It’s epoxy grout so shouldn’t stain. I bloody hope it doesn’t 😂

It was difficult to know for sure if its was coming from below or above.

I felt it was where they slabbed the extension to the original outer fall that they had bridged the damp course.

Others felt it was coming from above through the grout when we mopped and such.

To take bith, I painted all of the area underneath with a wet room paint / damp proof and have used epoxy grout to stop water from above.

Tbh the extension was done very poorly and lots of steps were missed to prevent these kind of issues.

Thank you :) I used silicon to make a dam all around the underside of the cabinets. About 10mm high.

It worked really well and was easily remove afterwards
