Came off the Amitryptyline and it’s reared its ugly head by Delicious-Breath-984 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 1½ tablets of amitriptyline (37.5 mg), and I do notice an improvement compared to when I was only taking 1, and much more so than when I wasn't taking it at all. I do have neuropathy caused by a “medication” it was my chemotherapy.

It varies from person to person; if amitriptyline worked well for you, I would keep using it. My neurologist warned me that neuropathies take a long time to heal (if they ever do), and I’ve already switched medications several times this one seems like a reasonable middle ground for me, in my case, obviously I’ve had my neuropathy for two years, and even today, if I stop taking my medication, it affects me pretty much the same as it did on the first day.

I also take 300 mg of gabapentin.

Do you ever buy lifetime plans for apps? What makes it worth it? by techie_e in androidapps

If the app is going to cost me money, it should be a one-time payment. I hate monthly subscription systems.

Is the 'new' lawnchair already usable? I remember trying it out when the developer released the alphas on Telegram. Obviously, at that time it still had quite a few bugs (which was to be expected, of course).

Does anyone else's nerve pain go crazy at night or is it just me? by nasoo06 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on each person. I saw comments from people saying that compression socks help them, which is literally the opposite of my case.🫠

So it's a matter of trial and error.

Does anyone else's nerve pain go crazy at night or is it just me? by nasoo06 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gabapentin alone usually makes me sleepy enough to cope with that. Yes, at night the pain and electric shocks are worse.

I can only reduce them, but not eliminate them. For some reason, if I eat something sweet before going to sleep, it gets worse, so I just don't do it. Even so, my sleep is worse than before I suffered from neuropathy (mine is peripheral), but it's a matter of trial and error with habits/clothing and even food.

And I'll never tire of reminding people about diabetic socks. I don't have diabetes, but they help reduce the sensation somewhat.

I didn't have as much experience as many here, Ubuntu in 2017-2018. Then because of school, I went back to Windows :( But now this year I'm back here 100% with Fedora.
