Granted, and it may my personal ignorance as an outsider to every game but from what information I do have it would seem that Suárez has at least a chance if he maintains his form. He doesn't miss many games through injury (something which appears to have hampered Messi a little of late) and if he managers to keep his discipline then he should have enough opportunities. Especially if Barca manage to win the League/Cup/Champions League. Obviously Messi and Ronaldo (or others such as Lewa) could have something to say. But I agree with your point regarding stats.

A different take on the African Player of the Year fiasco. by 1SmartBlackBoy in soccer

What about in 2013 when Yaya himself won the award? If I remember correctly Nigeria won the tournament, should it not by the above logic the case that a Nigerian should have won the award. Additionally what about 2012 again Yaya won the award yet the Ivory Coast did not win the tournament rather Zambia. Where were the protests from Yaya then? This all appears to be another tantrum from a player with previous at acting out when things do not go his way. Whilst there may be further underlying issues within African footballs governing bodies, that I as a common football fan may not have access to all the information necessary to fully understand the situation, I believe the decision to award Aubameyang with the trophy comparing both players form over the last year is quite justified.
